Why SEER2 matters

If you’re shopping ductless, you’ll see SEER2 on every spec sheet. It’s the updated U.S. efficiency metric for cooling. Higher SEER2 = less energy for the same comfort, especially at part-load where inverter compressors shine. For heating, look for HSPF2 and cold-climate performance data.

How to choose the right C&H system

Size to the room/zone, not to the guess.

  • 150–250 sq ft → 6–9k BTU
  • 250–400 sq ft → 9–12k BTU
  • 400–550 sq ft → 12–15k BTU
  • 550–800 sq ft → 18k BTU
  • Adjust for insulation, sun load, windows, occupants, and equipment heat. Undersizing = poor comfort; oversizing = short cycling and humidity issues.

Match the indoor style to the space.

  • Wall-mount for the simplest, clean install
  • Ceiling cassette / ducted air handler for hidden, even airflow
  • Multi-zone only if rooms need different setpoints/schedules

Look beyond SEER2.

  • Low-ambient heat (stable output in cold weather)
  • Sound levels (indoor & outdoor dB)
  • Line-set limits and voltage (115V vs 208/230V)
  • Controls (Wi-Fi/app, thermostat options)
  • Warranty & support from a U.S. team

Install tips for quiet, efficient comfort

  • Keep line sets within allowed length/elevation; insulate the suction line fully.
  • Pressure test with nitrogen, then pull a deep vacuum to target microns and verify hold.
  • Provide clear airflow around the indoor unit; avoid blowing straight at seating or work areas.
  • Manage condensate with proper slope or a pump; test for leaks before close-up.
  • In attics/closets, ensure service clearances and a clean return path with a good filter.

Maintenance = performance

Rinse or replace filters, keep coils and outdoor fins clean, clear the drain, and check for obstruction around the outdoor unit. Proper airflow preserves efficiency and keeps things whisper-quiet.
