Life in a corporate job often follows the same routine. Wake up early, travel through traffic, spend the day attending meetings, replying to emails, working on deadlines, and return home exhausted. For many people, this cycle continues for months without a meaningful break.
That was exactly our story.
We were three friends from Delhi, each working in a different multinational company. Although our workplaces were different, we all faced the same challenges long working hours, constant pressure, and very little time for ourselves. Every few weeks we would discuss traveling to the mountains, but those conversations never turned into reality. Someone always had an urgent project, another person couldn't get leave approved, or one of us simply became too busy.
Eventually, we realized we had spent more time planning trips than actually taking them.
An Ordinary Evening That Changed Everything
One evening after work, we met at our regular tea stall near our offices. It had become our usual place to catch up after long workdays.
Instead of discussing office work, we started talking about how mentally exhausted we had become. Each of us felt that life had become repetitive, and we desperately needed a change of environment.
While scrolling through trekking destinations in Uttarakhand, one destination immediately caught our attention Brahmatal Trek.
The photographs of snow-covered forests, frozen alpine lakes, vast Himalayan landscapes, and clear mountain skies looked exactly like the escape we were searching for.
Instead of postponing the plan once again, we made a simple decision.
We booked the trek that very evening. We searched lots of company some trek companies prices are too much our budget was medium range so we choose himalayan dream treks first we saw their reviews their social media page and finally booked with them.
Leaving Delhi Behind
A few days later, after completing our office work, we packed our backpacks and headed to the boarding point for our overnight bus to Rishikesh.
As the bus slowly left Delhi behind, we felt a sense of excitement that had been missing from our lives for months.
The city lights gradually disappeared, and conversations about office targets, meetings, and deadlines were replaced by discussions about snow, mountain views, photography, and the adventure waiting ahead.
Although it was just an overnight journey, it already felt like we had stepped away from our everyday routine.
Arrival in Rishikesh
Early the next morning, we reached Rishikesh.
The fresh morning air and peaceful surroundings immediately felt different from the busy streets of Delhi.
According to the Brahmatal Trek itinerary, this is the meeting point where trekkers gather before beginning the road journey to Lohajung, the base village of the trek.
After meeting our trek leader and fellow participants, we began the long drive into the Garhwal Himalayas.
The Scenic Drive to Lohajung
The drive from Rishikesh to Lohajung is an adventure in itself.
As we traveled deeper into Uttarakhand, the scenery changed dramatically. The highways slowly gave way to winding mountain roads that followed beautiful rivers and passed through charming villages.
Along the way, we crossed famous mountain towns and river confluences while enjoying spectacular views of valleys, forests, and distant Himalayan peaks.
After several hours of driving, we finally reached Lohajung.
This small mountain village is surrounded by forests and snow-covered peaks, making it the perfect starting point for the Brahmatal Trek.
The peaceful atmosphere instantly reminded us why we had chosen this journey.
Day 1: Lohajung to Bekaltal
The next morning marked the beginning of our trek.
After a briefing from our trek leader, we started walking through dense oak and rhododendron forests.
The trail gradually climbed higher, offering beautiful views of the surrounding mountains.
As we continued, patches of snow began appearing along the route.
Coming from Delhi, seeing fresh snow on the trail was an exciting experience.
Every few minutes we stopped to admire the scenery, capture photographs, and simply enjoy being surrounded by nature.
By afternoon, we reached Bekaltal, a peaceful alpine lake located amidst dense forests.
Camping beside the lake was one of the highlights of the entire journey.
As night fell, the sky filled with countless stars, creating one of the clearest night skies we had ever seen.
Day 2: Bekaltal to Brahmatal
The second trekking day offered even more spectacular scenery.
The forests slowly opened into wide snowfields and mountain ridges.
With every step, the views became more impressive.
Eventually, we reached Brahmatal Lake, one of the most beautiful attractions of the trek.
Surrounded by snow and complete silence, the lake looked almost untouched.
Our trek leader also explained the spiritual significance of the lake, where it is believed that Lord Brahma performed meditation according to local traditions.
Standing beside the frozen lake, we understood why this place is considered one of Uttarakhand's most beautiful winter trekking destinations.
Day 3: Summit Day
The summit day was undoubtedly the most challenging and rewarding part of the trek.
The climb became steeper, and the snow grew deeper.
Although the trail demanded more effort, every step brought us closer to breathtaking panoramic views.
Upon reaching the highest viewpoint, we were rewarded with magnificent views of some of the Himalayas' most iconic peaks, including Mount Trishul and Nanda Ghunti.
The vast mountain landscape stretched endlessly in every direction.
For several minutes, nobody spoke.
We simply stood there, appreciating the beauty that surrounded us.
It was one of those rare moments that photographs can never truly capture.
Returning with More Than Memories
After completing the trek, we descended back to Lohajung and later returned to Rishikesh before boarding our bus to Delhi.
Physically, we were tired.
Mentally, we felt completely refreshed.
The mountains had given us something that weeks of holidays at home never could—a genuine sense of peace.
When we returned to our offices, our responsibilities remained the same, but our perspective had changed.
We realized that taking time away from work is not a luxury; it is essential for maintaining balance.
What This Journey Taught Us
Looking back, the Brahmatal Trek was much more than a winter adventure.
It reminded us of the importance of friendship, the value of disconnecting from everyday stress, and the incredible peace that nature offers.
Most importantly, it taught us that waiting for the "perfect time" often means waiting forever.
Sometimes, the best decision is simply to stop planning and start moving.
For three friends living busy corporate lives in Delhi, one evening, one decision, and one trek created memories that we will carry with us for a lifetime.
