But curiosity got the better of me. I decided to try a tokenized real estate investment alongside my regular syndication deals. That decision opened my eyes to a new way of investing—one that didn’t replace my traditional approach, but complemented it.
My First Tokenized Real Estate Experience
I invested in a multifamily property that had been fractionalized into digital tokens on a blockchain. The minimum investment was a fraction of what I usually put into syndications, and the process was surprisingly quick. No thick stacks of paper. No waiting days for wire confirmations. Within hours, I had tokens in my digital wallet representing my share of the property.
What I Loved About It

It was a fresh contrast to the slower, more rigid process I’d grown used to with traditional real estate syndications.
Why I’m Not Leaving Traditional Syndications Behind
Even after experiencing tokenization, I still value the human side of syndications—experienced sponsors, tailored deal structures, and the ability to optimize for taxes. Those relationships and customizations can’t be replicated by technology alone.
For me, tokenization isn’t a replacement—it’s an expansion. I now use it to add flexibility and global exposure to my portfolio, while keeping my syndications as my core investments.
Blending the Two Worlds
Some of the sponsors I work with have started offering hybrid models: traditional syndication deals with tokenized LP shares for optional liquidity. That’s the sweet spot for me—trusted sponsor oversight combined with tech-driven efficiency.
If you’re a real estate investor, you don’t have to choose between real estate tokenization and traditional real estate syndication. You can use both strategically—syndications for stability and depth, tokenization for agility and access. In my portfolio, they’re now working together to create more opportunities than I thought possible.
