After spending years in the U.S., I finally made a long-awaited trip back to Kerala. This time, I wanted more than just a short visit with relatives — I wanted an experience where my parents and I could spend quality time together, away from the bustle of city life. That’s how I discovered Exotiland, a beautiful homestay tucked right between Ernakulam and Idukki.

From the moment we arrived, it felt like stepping into a world where time slowed down. Surrounded by greenery, fresh air, and the soothing sounds of nature, Exotiland was exactly the atmosphere I wanted my parents to enjoy. They have lived in the busy town of Thodupuzha most of their lives, and I thought they deserved a refreshing change of scene.

The homestay itself is warm, spacious, and designed to make families feel at home. We were welcomed by Mr. Mathew Kuraichen, the host, whose genuine hospitality immediately put us at ease. He ensured everything was comfortable, from cozy rooms to delicious meals that reminded me of the flavors I had been missing abroad.

Most of our time was spent together on the property — kids in the family playing outdoors, my parents relaxing in the peaceful garden, and all of us sharing long conversations under the open sky. Unlike a hotel stay, Exotiland gave us the privacy and intimacy we needed as a family.

We also took short drives to explore nearby spots in Idukki, enjoying the hills and the calm landscapes Kerala is so famous for. But honestly, the highlight of the trip was simply being at Exotiland itself — a homestay that felt like a bridge between my life abroad and the home I missed for so long.

If you’re looking for a homestay in Ernakulam that offers comfort, authenticity, and a true family experience, I couldn’t recommend Exotiland more. For me, it wasn’t just a vacation — it was a meaningful homecoming.
