Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club was founded in 1976 by a group of expatriate engineers living and working in Sharjah. While employed on major projects such as the construction of Sharjah Port and Sharjah Sewage Works, and working with companies like Halcrow and Tarmac, they envisioned establishing a dedicated rugby pitch and sporting community in the emirate.

With the generous support of HH Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, a plot of land was granted on the outskirts of Sharjah. What began as a remote sabkah area, accessible only by 4x4 vehicles, soon became the foundation of a thriving sports club. Supported by materials, equipment, and collective effort from members and their employers, the first clubhouse was built and Sharjah Wanderers Sports Club was officially established.

Over the years, as Sharjah expanded around it, the club grew in strength and facilities. Today, Sharjah Wanderers stands as a well-established, self-sustaining club, funded entirely by its own resources, and known for its vibrant community, rich sporting heritage, and continuous development.
