Jose Saco is the pseudonym for the author (Richard Read) who graduated from Bucknell University with a degree in English and then spent two years teaching high school math and English with the Peace Corps in Eritrea. He worked for twenty-five years as a high school counselor and basketball coach. Upon retirement, he worked part time counseling sexually abused children and their families. Much of his fictional writing incorporates situations encountered by students and children that he counseled.
