Animation is one of the most traveling forms of content. A cartoon created in Moscow could be a sleep routine for someone in Lucknow. Japanese anime will have the loudest fans in Sao Paulo. Most of this magic happens thanks to an animation dubbing studio that will take all the characters, jokes, and timings and put them into a voice!

With nine years of experience dubbing children’s shows, YouTube animations, and anime-style shows for Sukudo Studios into dozens of languages, we have included the studios we have worked with, competed with, and just admire.

How we decided on this list of animation dubbing studios

Most lists are quite vague. We took into account:

History of dubbing animation We want to know they have done some proper stuff!

Languages: How many languages can they do in-house?

Security TPN, ISO 27001 or equivalent. All major streamers ask for this.

Speed Animation comes in seasons rather than individual episodes.

Talent pool, particularly for child and character voices.

We have worked as a vendor within their pipeline.

DubnSub is known for being a flexible and affordable option. They have over 100 languages, over 2,000 voice artists, and approximately 200 partner studios. 7. Keywords Studios (Dublin, Ireland)

Keywords began as a video game studio, so they know how to bring characters and effort to life with voices. They have acquired many dubbing experts, including TV+Synchron in Berlin, who is a gold-rated Netflix partner for German lip-sync. LOLA in Mexico offers dubbing for animated series into Latin American Spanish. Their Brazil team offers anime dubbing. They are a great choice for animated IP that exists in games and TV.

PFT is the technology arm of Prime Focus. They developed CLEAR, which many broadcasters use as a cloud-based platform. They now offer AI-led localization with CLEAR AI. They have won many NAB Product of the Year awards and specialize in Indian regional languages. Their animation work is relevant, as they dubbed the Indian version and captions for Ramayana: The Legend of Prince Rama in 4K.

10. Sound & Vision India (Mumbai, India)

No honest list on anime dubbing in India would leave out Sound & Vision. Founded in Andheri in 1992 by Leela Roy Ghosh (late) and her daughter Mona Ghosh Shetty. They helped Indians get used to Hollywood in Hindi, starting with Jurassic Park. By 2013 they had dubbed over 300 foreign films and over a thousand TV programs, many being cartoons and anime. Many of India’s best dubbing voices have trained in their studios.

Why dubbing for animation is different

While live-action dubbing takes inspiration from the actor on screen (face, breathing, etc.), animation gives nothing. This means your voice needs to really do the talking! This means:

Casting the character rather than age. Many children’s characters are voiced by adults who can maintain a voice over 52 episodes.

Humor and song adaptation. Rarely will a translated joke work. Lyrics need to fit with the melody.

Names should be locked in early. You don’t want episode 40 to sound completely different from episode 1. Your fans won’t want to hear their heroes' names change halfway through the season.

If a studio doesn’t treat animation as a slower version of film dubbing, you will usually see

This is in episode five.

Anime Dubbing in India

Anime has built up a big fanbase in India. Requests for dubbing are now much higher than just Hindi. They want Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Bengali versions. However, getting the correct register can be tricky. Honorifics, attack names, and the high emotion of battle scenes just don’t match with everyday Indian language. Studios who understand this will keep the Japanese names your fans want and work hard to make sure the dialogue sounds natural.

How to choose the right animation dubbing studio

You can ask for:

Sample: Something relevant to the animation show you want dubbing in your target language.

Proof of security: Certification and file handling.

One director per series to ensure consistent casting.

Timelines per season.

Song and on-screen text Will the lyrics be adapted? Will the signs be changed?

Any good animation dubbing studio that is TPN Certified will be happy to do a short sample scene.
