Visiting the Hermitage in St. Petersburg was a real cultural event for me. The decision to visit one of the largest museums in the world came spontaneously, but thanks to convenient services it was as easy as pie. I bought tickets through the this website. The purchase process was quick and hassle-free: I chose the desired date and time, paid, and received electronic tickets by email. This saved me from having to stand in line for tickets on site.
I got to the Hermitage by public transport. It is just a few minutes' walk from the Admiralteyskaya metro station to the museum. This is convenient, since you don't have to spend a lot of time on the road. Along the way, I enjoyed the views of St. Petersburg, which is an open-air museum in itself.
I visited the Hermitage on a weekday, which allowed me to avoid long lines. The museum is open from 10:30 to 18:00, and on Wednesdays and Fridays it is open until 21:00. This is convenient for those who want to spend more time in the museum. There was a line at the entrance, but it moved quickly, and in 15 minutes I was inside.

At first, I joined a tour so as not to miss the most significant exhibits. The guide started with the Winter Palace, which is a work of art in itself. Luxurious interiors, marble staircases and gilded halls create an atmosphere of grandeur and history. I was especially impressed by the Small Throne Room with its exquisite decor.

Of the paintings, the most memorable was the hall with the works of Leonardo da Vinci. "Madonna Litta" and "Benois Madonna" are real masterpieces that captivate with their realism and subtlety of execution. In the Rembrandt hall, I spent a long time looking at "The Return of the Prodigal Son". This painting amazes with the depth of emotion and the artist's skill in conveying light and shadow.

No less interesting were the halls with ancient art. Sculptures of Ancient Greece and Rome, ceramics and mosaics - all this takes you to another era. The hall with Egyptian artifacts also made a strong impression. Statues of pharaohs, sarcophagi and mummies - each exhibit tells its own story.

In the eastern wing of the Hermitage, I saw a collection of works of art from the East. Chinese porcelain vases, Japanese engravings, Indian miniatures - the diversity of cultures and styles is amazing. I especially remember the Japanese samurai armor and Chinese silk scrolls.
There was not enough time to see all the exhibits, so I decided to come back another day. The Hermitage is a place where you want to come again and again, discovering new facets of art and history. The tour helped me better understand and feel what I saw. The guide shared interesting facts and stories that brought the exhibits to life.
A visit to the Hermitage left an indelible impression. This is not just a museum, but a whole world in which you can travel for hours without noticing the time. The Hermitage inspires, enriches and makes you think about eternal values. I recommend everyone who finds themselves in St. Petersburg to definitely visit this unique place.
