After the excitement of Diwali, planning a quick getaway will help refresh your mind. Whether its a quick hill trip or heading home for a drive, having a list will help make sure you get going on time.
Why should you have a list for your getaway?
During the festive periods, cars are left sat and time is tight. Having a list will make sure you don’t miss anything.
Car List
- Make sure tyres are inflated and have sufficient tread. Make sure you have a spare tyre that is working properly.
- Check brakes and lights are working in the car park.
- Top up the fluids such as engine oil, coolant and windscreen wash.
- If the car has been sat for a few days, it might need a jump start or just a quick check on the battery.
- Ensure you have a full tank of fuel.
- Documents list
- Ensure you have a valid driving licence.
- RC details & Insurance – Ensure you have full cover for your journey.
- Pollution Certificate – Check it is still valid.
Check for any Challans
Why should I check for Challans?
Challans are based on your vehicle number. During the busy period of Diwali you could have an e-challan that hasn’t been paid. Challan Checking before you leave will show you if you have any outstanding challans.
What is MyMotor?
MyMotor is a website that allows you to check for Challans using your vehicle number. It also lets you check your RC details. This is a useful tool to have when creating your list. It gives you:
- Check your Challans using your vehicle number.
- E-Challan pages for each state (28 states & 8 Union Territories).
- Check your RC details.
- App to check your Challans.
Comfort list
Have your phone and charging cable. Charge your phone in the car using a car charger and have a power bank.
- Download your route to have offline maps.
- Have some snacks, water and a first aid kit.
What if I receive a Challan?
If you are able to, pay the Challan before you leave and keep your receipt. This will stop you getting stuck at a checkpoint due to a small fine. If you are travelling through other states, check each state’s e-challan status.
10 Minute Checklist
Take a walk around your car to ensure tyres are okay. Have a quick look through your documents. Check your Challans and pack your essentials. This will only take 10 minutes and will help you have a stress free start.
