Yon Lam and Lilia Bu selected as ‘Player of the Year’ by the U.S. Golf Correspondents’ Association

Lam-Boo won the men’s and women’s trophy four times, and Stricker won the senior category player award.

Jon Lam (30, Spain), ranked 3rd in the men’s golf world rankings, was selected as the best player of 2023 by the American Golf Reporters.

The Golf Writers Association of America (GWAA) announced on the 3rd that it had selected Rahm as the 2023 Male Athlete of the Year. Lahm received 48.9% of the first place votes in the press vote, beating Viktor Hovland (Norway), who received 33.0%. Scotty Scheffler (USA), last season’s money winner and world number one, was pushed to third place as he received only 18.1% of the first place votes.

Rahm lifted the championship trophy four times in total on the PGA Tour, including the major tournament Masters in April last year. Last year, Boo, who won four wins, including two major championships, on the LPGA Tour and became Player of the Year and the top prize money winner, received 72.9% of the first-place votes. Steve Stricker (57, USA), who swept six wins, including three major championships, on the PGA Champions Tour, the senior stage, became the winner of the Senior Category Player of the Year Award.
