What You Might Not Know About the Mazda 2 Trim Levels
The new Mazda 2 has been officially announced and it is expected to be a scaled down version of the original Demio model and it will most likely be based upon the European Ford Fusion model.
It was presented in 2021, and marked an upgrade to the already successful Demio brand and it was built on the previously established Ford Fusion platform. While it was the first time that the brand had switched over to a Ford platform, it followed in a timely fashion.
Mazda 2: The Differences
While it shares many features with its predecessors, it differs mainly in size and body style. Its main body type is the same as that of the hatchback and is called the Mazda 2 S trim.
It is the second largest sub-brand in the company’s line of small cars and this hatchback has been built upon the previously established Ford Fiesta base. Like its siblings, this hatchback also gets its entry into the global market through the Ford Focus hatchback. However, unlike the hatchback, it is built on a sub-compact Ford Fiesta platform.
Mazda 2: Design
One noteworthy difference when it comes to the new Mazda2 is its design. It borrows some styling elements from the second generation Demio but it has been redesigned to suit the modern day needs of modern car buyers.
While it shares the same under-hood cabin styling with its siblings, it has been given a more contemporary look. It has been designed to be very flexible and practical while also being very pleasing to the eyes.
>>> Honda Accord: What The Future Holds
The new Mazda 2 incorporates the most up-to-date design elements such as the front headlight clusters, front air vents, rear diffusers and LED headlights. However, it does not take away from the car’s basic design.
It maintains the same clean lines and straightforward profile that have made it one of the most popular hatchbacks around. The new Mazda 2 will be available in various trim levels such as the xD, xS, and TDI versions.
Mazda 2: Trim Levels
The first set of trim levels comes with the xD which is the entry level trim for the Mazda 2. It features the same front and rear headlamp clusters as the xS. The second set of trims is the xD which continues to include the same front air vents and LED headlights.
It also uses the same grill that is used on the redesigned fifth generation Fiesta. The third trim level is the turbo shade which has been developed for use with the xD and features a deeper and larger grille featuring eight distinct colors.

As previously mentioned, the third set of trims for the Mazda 2 will only be offered on the base car and cannot be added later on. With the base, the Mazda2 can only come with the standard headlights and taillights.
One way that consumers can help increase the size of the trims is by selecting the optional xenon headlights instead of standard ones. Xenon headlights are known to produce stronger light than other incandescent bulbs making them an excellent choice for any model year.
The four trim levels on the Mazda 2 are only available on the foreign based Mazda2 and not on the Japanese version. The two sets of colors are a great way to add some more color to your car without having to sacrifice the look of the front end.
The last two trims that are available for the Mazda 2 are the embossed silver emblems and the classy leather embossed trim. With the emblems, you will be able to add some subtle design to your car, while leather embossing provides a sophisticated look.
Both of these great pieces of hardware are only available on the Mazda2 and not on any of the other two trim levels.
