What Legacy Am I Leaving Behind?

Purpose, Legacy & Letting Go – Season 4 Episodes 19–24: This season explores topics that help seniors reflect on their legacy, spiritual purpose, and the grace of letting go, while keeping Jehovah and his word at the center.

Proverbs 13:22 – “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children.”

Welcome to JUST STRAIGHT TALK. I’m your host, R-E SAMPLE, and today we begin a brand-new season — one that asks deeper questions about life, purpose, and letting go with grace. And we’re starting with a big one: **What legacy am I leaving behind?**

Now let’s be honest — the word “legacy” gets thrown around a lot. Some folks think it only means leaving behind money, land, or property. And sure, those things can be part of it. But a true legacy goes far deeper. It’s about the love you showed. The faith you kept. The wisdom you shared. The character you lived by.

When we talk about legacy, we’re talking about what people will remember — what they’ll say about you long after you’re gone. Will your children remember your hugs? Your prayers? Your honesty? Will your grandchildren remember your patience, your laughter, and your faith in Jehovah?

This episode is about living intentionally. It’s about building something meaningful that outlives us — something that pleases God.

Jehovah God, we come to you humbly today, asking that you help us examine our lives with clear eyes. Help us understand what we’re truly leaving behind. Let our legacy be filled with your light, your truth, and your love. May our children’s children look back and see you in us. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

What Is a Legacy, Really?

Let’s break it down. Legacy isn’t just something you leave when you pass. It’s something you build every single day. Every choice you make — every conversation, every act of kindness, every moment of integrity — is a brick in the house of your legacy.

Some of the most powerful legacies in history weren’t made of money. They were made of values. Think about the stories you heard growing up — how your grandmother always prayed, how your uncle stood up for what was right, how your father taught you never to lie.

That’s legacy. That’s inheritance. That’s spiritual wealth.

Proverbs 13:22 says, “A good man leaveth an inheritance to his children’s children.” That includes money, yes. But more than that — it means leaving something that your family can build their lives on. That could be your faith, your work ethic, your example.

Legacy isn’t about being famous. It’s about being faithful.
