What is offset printing?
There are many types of printing that people prefer. One of which is ‘offset printing. This printing technique stands out among the others because of its convenience.
This is the printing process that is mostly used in printing newspapers, books, and magazines. It is cheaper than the other printing processes and is used widely by printing firms and companies to easily print on materials.
Offset printing is also known as either CMYK offset printing or lithography. The reason behind it being called CMYK offset printing is that it has 4 major colours that it uses to finalize the printing results.
C stands for Cyan, M stands for Magenta, Y stands for Yellow, and K is used to portray Black.
These colours are combined together to create for the people whatever print they want in high quality with good colour radiance and vibrancy. Offset printing is said to develop a sharp image and print in very good quality so people prefer it. Also because of its cheap prices
It is affordable for everyone and has different methods as well and it is up to you which process you want to go for. Ask Custom Boxes is an affordable offset printer in the United States. In the end, it is all offset printing but just different variations of it. It uses a large reel of paper and rollers or blankets that are fed with ink and colours to print.
How does Offset printing work?
During offset printing, there are a couple of different variations and processes used. Some of these are:
- Blanket to Steel method
- Blanket to Blanket method
- Dry offset printing method
- Keyless offset printing method
Blanket to steel method
During the blanket to steel process, the paper is inserted between a blanket of colours and a steel bar that presses the printing material onto the paper.
In order to print on the other side of the paper, the method has to be restarted by putting the paper through the other side. This method is usually used for formal brochures and business cards. The steel used a one-colour press.
Blanket Blanket method
The blanket to the Blanket method, as is given off by the name, has two sheets of blanket on both sides of the paper or whichever material that you need a print on. In this method, both sheets are printed simultaneously and you don’t have to go through the difficulty of taking the paper out and inserting it from the blank side. There are colour and water rollers that use the needed colour to print on the reel of paper that has been fed to it.
This method is said to be the most convenient and most used when people prefer offset printing, and due to it printing on both sides together, the process doesn’t take much time and can be gotten over within lesser time than other processes and variations.
Dry offset printing method In this method, instead of the printing colour being transferred directly to the material, it is first transferred to a rubber blanket which later on outs the printing colour onto the material.
Mostly when one has to print on solid items and not papers, this material is preferred. You must have seen this variation of printing on rubbers or other solid materials.
Keyless offset printing
In this process, the ink is renewed every once in a while. Most newspapers are printed through these methods as there are to be printed in black and white mostly and have to have a lot of printing done.
