We actually considered the idea of creating an inactive RuneScape game
The game launched earlier this month as well as the Early Access version proved this formula resonated with RPG enthusiasts Cheap OSRS Gold, having been downloaded over 600,000 times on Steam and both of the main smartphone app stores. This was far beyond his initial hopes when Malcolm began his journey. Naturally, he had hopes that his game would be successful but it wasn’t a ‘endgame for his game in mind.
“Luckily the enthusiasm that was a source of inspiration these early days was with me for the past few years of development. Being working with Jagex to directly tackle this is an amazing opportunity,” he says. “I never imagined that I’d get the assistance of the studio which inspired me in beginning.
Making the transition from hobbyist to fan project was certainly scary however, looking back at where I’ve ended up, and the support I’ve received since establishing Games by Malcs as an emerging studio, it’s certainly paid off for the best.”
Despite the close ties in Melvor Idle and RuneScape, and the involvement direct of Jagex, the publisher opted to maintain the game as an original IP and not to make it an officially-licensed RuneScape spin-off. This was in part recognition that Malcolm had succeeded where Jagex it had failed.
“We actually did look at making an inactive RuneScape game some years ago with RuneScape: Idle Adventures,” Pfeiffer elaborates. “In Alpha, we stopped development to concentrate upon the core RuneScape games.
We have always believed that RuneScape has a lot of potential in the empty space, and Melvor Idle proves that RuneScape can provide a thrilling idle game. However, Melvor Idle stands up on its own merits as well buy rs07 gold, and we wanted to remain true to the vision for Melvor Idle that Brendan did when he first started developing the game.”
