TVS Ronin: Overview
The Hosur-based bike manufacturer, TVS, gave the TVS Ronin a “modern retro” moniker. It is one of a kind and, of course, the only cruiser bike from the indigenous bikemaker. Having said that, it doesn’t have any relation with other TVS bikes. It has its separate underpinnings and a separate engine for itself. At the same time, its design language is also unique as the Ronin is a blend of neo-retro scrambler-style. This homegrown bike might turn heads because of its design cues, and it is safe to say that it slots itself in a premium cruiser segment. Further, the locally produced premium cruiser bike has three variants, and they are available in monotone and dual-tone colour schemes. So, if you are looking for an affordable premium cruiser bike, below are a few things you should know.
Specifications
As far as the TVS Ronin specifications are concerned, the Ronin uses a 225cc engine, which is small compared to its competition.
The engine returns an output of 20.1 bhp at 7,750 rpm and 19.93 NM at 3750 rpm. The peak power is similar to the Royal Enfield Hunter 350’s 20.2 bhp.
But the Hunter has a noticeably higher torque rating, at 27 Nm. In addition, you can also check out the Hunter 350 price on the autoX website.
However, keeping the comparison aside, the TVS Ronin sends power to its rear wheel via a standard five-speed manual transmission. And for smooth gear shifts, this bike’s clutch consists of assist and slipper clutch technology.
Further, this bike stores fuel in its 14-litre fuel tank. Speaking of which, the Ronin boasts an efficient engine. It won’t pinch your pockets, as the Ronin’s mileage is 40km/l. Considering its weight, which is 160 kg, its real-world fuel economy is pretty impressive. Moreover, the BS6 compliant has a single-cylinder, oil-cooled engine with fuel injection technology. You will notice that most BS6 engines come with fuel injection for improved efficiency.
This cooling system is better than the conventional air-cooling system.
It is worth mentioning that that is the average owner-reported mileage across India. The mileage may vary as per local traffic conditions and an individual’s riding style. Additionally, if you want to know the overall experience on this bike, including its rideability, comfort, handling, etc., then go through the Ronin review on autoX.
Features
The top model of this cruiser bike boasts several features. For starters, let’s talk about the fancy offerings. It boasts a fully digital instrument cluster that shows relevant readings. It does what an instrument cluster is supposed to do. Several alerts for low fuel, low engine oil, service, and low battery pop up on the screen. Other features include automatic headlamps that control an all-LED-light setup, a USB charging port, a killswitch, a standing alarm, a pass light, and an electric start.
In addition, this bike also has two ABS modes: “Urban” and “Rain.” The “Urban” moniker is for dry roads, while the “Rain” mode is obviously for wet roads. Once switched to “Rain” mode, the bike will automatically adjust the revs and provide traction based on road conditions.
There is also mobile app connectivity with Bluetooth. And whenever a bike has Bluetooth connectivity, it means that there is software to access the bike’s details. In short, it’s called “connected bike technology.”
Through TVS’s SmartxConnect app, you can access the details of the bike, such as last parked, live location, love speed, service due(s), etc. There is another feature to cater to young buyers, and that is voice assistance.
Besides that, braking duties are taken care of by dual discs, especially in the top-of-the-line variant, which has an ex-showroom price of Rs 1.68 lakh in New Delhi. You can check the location-based Ronin’s on-road price on autoX.
The TVS bikes has also offered an additional safety feature, a dual-channel ABS. It is worth noting that the combination of dual discs and dual-channel ABS work flawlessly during emergency braking. Irrespective of the road condition, this combination will decrease the chances of mishaps.
The front brake works with the 41mm inverted telescopic fork, and the rear brake has a seven-step adjustable preload monoshock. And the presence of a multi-step adjustable rear suspension always enhances the ride quality of a bike. The setup on this homegrown bike goes well with Indian road conditions. That said, it can absorb potholes with ease, making the ride more comfortable. And that’s what a cruiser bike is meant to do.
All in all, you can do interstate travel with the TVS Ronin 225.
