Taj Mahal

Fatehpur Sikri
Fatehpur Sikri, a city in the Agra region, was once the capital of the Mughal Empire. The city was built and founded by Akbar and then abandoned in 1610. Like all other tourist attractions in Agra, it is built entirely of red sandstone.
There are several important parts of the city to explore. The first thing that comes to mind in this city is the enormous Buland Darvaza, which is 54 meters high and is sure to take your breath away. The interior of the city will amaze your eyes and will surely blow your mind.

Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula
Another Mughal tomb on the banks of the Yamuna River, Tomb of Itmad-ud-Daula is one of the best places in Agra. It is known to be inspired by the architecture and interior of the Taj Mahal as there are also traces of white Rajasthani marble among the red sandstone. And for this reason it is also known as “Baby Taj”.
The tomb was built by Nur Jahan in 1628. The white marble lattice beautifully illuminates the interior of the tomb. Don’t miss the semi-precious stones carved into the white marble interior of the tomb.

Akbar’s grave
Akbar’s Tomb was built by Jahangir in 1613. If you are a history buff then this is one of the best places in Agra for you. Akbar’s tomb is built of red sandstone and has some of the most beautiful marble designs.
As you enter the building, you will find beautiful marble ceiling designs and mysterious calligraphy leading to Akbar’s actual underground tomb.
The largest gate surrounding the tomb is the south gate, where you can see the intricate white marble designs on their tablets. Akbar’s original tomb is in a small crypt which gives it a very grand feel.

Moti. Mosque
The Moti Mosque was built by Shah Jahan in 1648 on the banks of the Yamuna River. Although very few people know about it, it is one of the best places in Agra.
The mosque is famous for its intricate design and architecture on dazzling white marble, hence the name “Moti Mosque”. But one aspect that attracts many tourists to visit this mosque is how it stands miraculously on a hillside with many arched alcoves and side arcades.
