The Process of Installing a Beautiful New Wooden Floor
So, you’ve decided its time to do something about your old floor and replace it with a beautiful new wood floor installation – A great choice, allow me to congratulate you on your fantastic taste! So, what does the process of installing a brand new wooden floor like exactly? Let’s quickly run through the steps here;
Step 1
Finding a suitable local supplier – It’s time to do some research and find a reputable flooring supplier. You can check reviews, ask friends / family for recommendations and visit suppliers in person to see the level of service you’re offered and establish how keen they are to help with impartial advice, etc.
Step 2
The Quote – Your chosen flooring supplier will need to visit your property to assess the cost of your new floor. Once they’ve finished you’ll get a no-obligation quote that should detail all aspects of the job. If there’s anything you’re unsure of, now is the time to ask questions.
Step 3
Subfloor preparation – Upon the initial inspection your floor fitter will have established what you’ll need in terms of your subfloor. Some parquet flooring can be nailed directly over existing floorboards, or glued down on top of a concrete screed. Either way, the subfloor will need cleaning and preparing in advance.
Step 4
Installing the new floor – beginning from the centre of the room and working outwards, wooden planks will be carefully laid one at a time, interlocking with each other. You can expect your floor fitter to leave the wood out to acclimatise for at least a couple days before it’s installed.
Step 5
The cleanup – Professionals will use extractors and sheets, so any dust created should be kept to a minimum. Even so, your floor fitter should take the time to carefully clean any rooms affected by the work.
