The New Learning and Development Spark
Smart firms have been raising serious questions about traditional approaches to training and development since well before the COVID-19 debacle. The early twenty-first-century dream of “all-online digital learning” has mostly failed to materialize, especially because some of the most critical managerial skills are best taught and learned in person.
Companies were obliged to establish novel methods, processes, and strategies due to the new rules, which included reinventing how people learn and develop across industries. In reaction to the pandemic, almost half of learning and development (L&D) professionals retooled or repurposed learning programs, according to training industry studies.
Let’s take a look at the magic taking place in L&D during 2022:
Continued Emphasis on Learning in Preparation for Hybrid Working
If 2021 has shown us anything, hybrid working will likely remain the workplace’s future for a long time. Hybrid—remote plus office—is quickly becoming the favored option for many employees due to its freedom. According to a Gartner survey, 48 percent of employees will most likely work at least part of the time after COVID-19 remotely, compared to 30 percent of employees who did so before the epidemic.
This means that L&D must continue to focus on hybrid workforce training programs rather than rushing to the instructor-led, face-to-face classroom learning paradigm. They’ll have to constantly look for new methods to generate learning for the hybrid workforce by combining various approaches that take advantage of the capabilities of each mode, such as mobile, multimedia, just-in-time, and so on, to increase engagement.
Providing a Positive Learning Environment
The majority of corporations today realize that each learner has unique requirements. However, while businesses have done an excellent job at tailoring the customer experience with new technology, they have fallen behind when personalizing their employees’ learning experience. Modern learners want a more engaging, intuitive, interactive experience that reflects how they use technology in their daily lives. It takes place through simple features such as a simple, mobile-first design, robust search capabilities, clearly organized libraries, easy access to video content, and more.
LMS That is Dependable
The Great Resignation, which is currently in full swing, will very certainly continue into 2022, at least for a while. Looking at L&D departments and exploring more chances to engage in employee learning and professional development is one method for organizations to address the problem.
It’s crucial to determine whether or not your employees are actually interested in the learning experience you’re providing. Do you have a robust LMS in place to assist them in upskilling/reskilling while on the job? While companies have increasingly relied on their LMSs to help retain employees, learning platforms will become even more critical in 2022 as businesses negotiate constant change.
