What’s new on Hulu + Live TV?
Hulu + Live TV is a new option that merges on-demand streaming with live television. Subscribers can choose to pay either $8 or $15 per month for a plan that includes ad-supported or ad-free on-demand TV shows and movies, plus 65+ top channels available in the Live TV package. They can also add ad-free HBO and Showtime to their plans for an additional charge.
Hulu is the most popular provider in the growing live video streaming market. The company began as an over-the-top (OTT) service in 2008 to take ABC and FOX content to online audiences. It was later purchased by The Walt Disney Company and now has more than four million subscribers.
As part of its live TV offering, Hulu has expanded the number of local channels available to its subscribers. Hulu now offers more than 85 live local channels, including Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, and PBS. In addition, it also provides ESPN, FS1, and FS2, plus regional sports networks. The company is adding even more options to its lineup in the coming months, including a live channel called HQ, which will feature celebrity interviews and news updates.
In addition to a growing library of on-demand shows and movies, Hulu + Live TV subscribers will be able to watch their favorite live sports events and prime time dramas. They can also record their most-watched shows and movies for future viewing with 50 hours of Cloud DVR storage included in the plan (which can be increased to 200 hours for an extra $10 a month).
While both YouTube TV and Hulu With Live TV have extensive selections of on-demand and live programming, each platform has its own standout features. YouTube TV’s live guide has a sleek design and large fonts, while Hulu With Live TV uses a more compact and efficient layout.
Both services allow you to stream on up to two devices at the same time. But a significant difference is that Hulu with live TV has full compatibility with most major streaming devices, while YouTube TV only works on select TVs and mobile devices.

Hulu’s channel lineup isn’t as extensive as some of the other live TV streaming services, but it does include a number of popular channels. You can watch FX, MTV, USA Network and more live with Hulu’s base plan, or expand your channels with add-ons. You can also stream popular movies and shows on demand, like The Handmaid’s Tale, Normal People, Fleishman is in Trouble, and countless other boxsets.
The Hulu + Live TV base package includes local ABC, CBS, NBC and FOX affiliates in most areas, as well as regional sports networks. If you’re a big sports fan, you can also subscribe to the ESPN+ add-on, which gives you access to ESPN, ESPN2, and three other ESPN network channels.
Other add-ons for Hulu + Live TV include HBO Max (previously HBO Go), Showtime, and Cinemax. There’s also a Sports add-on that includes NFL RedZone, CBS Sports Network, Fox Sports 1, and more. You can also get HBO NOW for your mobile devices.
