Tuning a bow is not a difficult task. It requires a series of logical steps. Today, most bows can be easily tuned, provided you use the correct initial settings and a good shooting form.
All your training and expensive equipment like folding wall mount holders will fail if you cannot estimate the tuning correctly. In short, paper tuning is one of the easiest ways to check whether or not the arrow is coming out of the bow clean and straight. Besides, there are several other ways to check whether your shooting is in tune or not.
We have pulled together a list of a few tips to help you take your archery skills to the next level.
Paper tuning
As mentioned before, paper tuning is one of the easiest ways to tune your bow. This tuning process gives you an easily visualized indication of what your arrow is doing when it leaves the body. Ensure the arrow is straight. Shoot your arrow through the paper and check the tears. If the incision is vertical, consider adjusting the knock height.
Powder test
Take your food powder and spray it 7 to 8 inches at the back of the arrow. Along with this, consider spreading the arrow rest and the self as well. The next step is to shoot your arrow at a solid point and remove it for inspection. Check the shelf and the arrow rest. If you see new sports, which means you either need to rotate your nocks or change this spring tension.
Group tuning
Group tuning is for higher precision. Paper tuning is practical, but it only guarantees accuracy up to 6 feet distance. Consider shooting a group at your maximum stretch, a.k.a. your maximum accuracy limit, and take notes of the arrows that were terrible shots on your part. The next step is to shoot another group while removing one-fourth turn from the top limb and checking for consistency. Make sure to repeat this in one-fourth increments until you reach the complete turn. Now, go back to the top limp 20 and perform the test from the bottom limb in one fourth turn increments. Every time you are just the tailor, consider using a different target, such as the paper plates.
Bow tuning is necessary and is something that every archer knows about. However, archers manage to get all the equipment, including a high-quality folding wall mount holder, for their archery. But when it comes to getting a tuning station, they think it is an unnecessary expense. Some archers may even believe that bow tuning is a fantasy and hard to come true. However, both tuning can be quickly done using the tips mentioned above. So make sure to follow them and enjoy your archery session.
