Significance of Narmada Shivlingam
Among the different types of Shivlingams known, Narmada Shivalingam is the Swayambhu form – the self-manifested and self-existing.
Narmada Shivlingam is the rarest and most potent form to connect with the Supreme power God Shiva to destroy all evils, sorrows, sins, stubborn barriers from one’s life and attain peace and empowerment.
This naturally formed Narmada Shivlingam is produced only by the flowing water and the currents of the water River Narmada located in Madhya Pradesh – India.
The stream of River Narmada flows through other states namely Maharashtra and Gujarat but does not produce any traces of the Narmada Shivlinga being formed or found except River Narmada in Madhya Pradesh.
This Holy Stone – Shivlingam is found in the shape of an egg, which is elliptical and has a natural sheen.
The Narmada Shivlingams are also referred to as the Banalingam. These naturally occurring Narmada Shivlingams often appear in various colour shades and patterns.
These self-formed mystical Shivlingams are super powerful and ‘Jagrut (alive)’.
Narmada Shivlingam does not require ‘Pran Pratishtha puja (evocation ceremony)’ as they are self-manifested and self-existing by the eternal blessings of the God Shiva himself.
An individual who installs a Narmada Shivlinga in the puja altar of his/her house or office is known to be blessed, protected, and taken care of in every walk of life.
As the Narmada Shivlingams are naturally formed, they possess divine energies and healing properties all the time that hold the power to manifest the sadhak’s/worshipper’s wish through vibrations of mantra chanting and prayers offered to the Narmada Shivlinga.
When an individual offers prayer to the Narmada Shivlinga divine positive energy is evoked and the complete house/office is filled with pleasant healing energy leading to positivity and peace.
The Narmada Shivlingam finds its mention in many ancient Holy Scriptures. These Scriptures also mention the divine benefits one is blessed with by offering prayers to the Narmada Shivlingam.
Let us now take a look at the various mentions that have been scripted by the ancient Hindu Holy Scriptures.
Narmada Shivlingam according to the Holy Hindu Scriptures
According to the ancient scriptures and other Hindu Holy texts, a person who has a Narmada Shivlingam installed in his Vastu and who offers devoted prayers and worships it with complete Sadhana is blessed enormously.
The Narmadeshwar Shivlingam is said to be an auspicious possession that brings good luck, success, prosperity, peace, and safeguards from mishaps, evil eyes, and negative energies.
Worshipping and doing abhishekam of this Shivalingam is also said to remove fears, offer emotional and mental stability, and bring one closer to Supreme consciousness and thus makes one see things clearly and rise above the situation without being stressed.
As mentioned in the Skanda Purana, the Narmada River which is also known as the River Rewa came out of Lord Shiva’s body.
It is said that when River Narmada sprung out of Lord’s body, He named it as ‘Narmada’, and from that very moment River Narmada is also known as the beloved daughter of Lord Shiva.
Hence, the River Narmada is known as ‘Shankari’. River Narmada is considered extremely Holy, so much so that it is said that viewing the sight of River Narmada is equivalent to taking a dip in the Holy waters of the Ganges.
There are many ancient Holy Scriptures that talk about the abundant benefits the worship of Narmada Shivlingam offers.
According to the Yajnavalkya Samhita, the blessings and boons a sadhak/worshipper receives by worshipping one crore Shivalingams are equivalent to worshipping just one Narmada Shivlingam.
Thus, the Swayambhu Narmada Shivlingam is the biggest blessing created by the God Shiva and anyone who worships it or even thinks about it at the early hours of the morning is said to have a great day and good life.
It is also believed that installing a Narmada Shivlingam on the altar of your house pacifies the malefic effects of planet Saturn, helps get rid of past karmas and sins, and offers a good, healthy, prosperous and successful life.
