Kim Gun-woo of the South Korean men’s short track team.
After a four-year absence from the national short track team, South Korean skier Kim Gun-woo (ESPN) won his second consecutive gold medal at the World Cup and moved to the top of the rankings.
Kim crossed the finish line first in 2 minutes, 20.294 seconds in the second race of the men’s 1500 meters at the 2023-24 International Ice Skating Union (ISU) Short Track World Cup in Montreal, Canada, on Tuesday (Feb. 30).
It was the second consecutive gold medal for Kim, who won the men’s 1000 meters at the first event last week. With one gold medal in two events, Kim has moved to the top of the men’s World Cup standings.
In the 1500 meters, Kim was in third place with three laps to go. But as Park Ji-won (Seoul Metropolitan Government) and Steven DuBois (Canada) battled for the lead, Kim quickly moved through the gap to take the lead and hold on for the win.
Park finished second and DuBois took bronze.
Following Kim, Park Ji-won, Hwang Dae-heon (Gangwon Provincial Office) and Seo Ira (Hwaseong City Hall) competed in the men’s 5000m relay, but were penalized and did not medal. China’s Lin Xiaojun (Korean name Lim Hyo-joon) took home the gold medal.
There were also gold medals on the women’s side.
Seo Hwi-min (Korea University) won the women’s 1000 meters in 1:31.288, ahead of Danae Blaise (Canada). Park Ji-yoon (Uijeongbu City Hall) won the bronze medal.
Seo also won a gold medal in the women’s 3000-meter steeplechase to complete the double.
Seo won the women’s 3000-meter relay with Kim Gil-ri (Seongnam City Hall), Shim Seok-hee (Seoul Metropolitan Government), and Park Ji-won (Jeonbuk Provincial Office) in 4:12.133.
In the men’s 1000 meters, Hwang Dae-heon won silver and Lee Jung-min (Korea Gymnastics) took bronze.
Korean short track won four gold medals (four silver and three bronze) at the second World Cup following the first World Cup last week.
Korea will return home after competing at the ISU Four Continents Championships in Laval, Quebec, Canada, from November 3-5. 카지노사이트
