Seon-Hong Hwang, training camp in Turkye for the Paris Olympics Kang Seong-jin and others selected
Except for Portuguese leaguer Hwang In-taek, all K-league players also
participated in 5 practice matches against European teams locally.
The Olympic team, led by coach Hwang Seon-hong, will conduct training in Turkye Antalya from the 14th to the 3rd of next month.
On the 3rd, the Korea Football Association also revealed the list of 27 players called up, saying, “During the training period, we will also play a total of five practice games with European club teams.”
The Olympic team is preparing for the 2024 Asian Football Confederation (AFC) Under-23 Asian Cup, which is the final Asian qualifier for the 2024 Paris Olympics to be held in Qatar next April.
Hwang Seon-hong-ho began his training in earnest by playing an away warm-up match in France (3-0 win) against the French Olympic team, the host country of the Olympics, during the international match last November.
This convocation list consists of a total of 27 players. Excluding Hwang In-taek (Estoril Praia), 26 are K-League players.
Most of the key players who played in the previous away game in France, including captain Byun Jun-su, Um Ji-seong, and Hong Yun-sang, were selected. Four players (Kim Jeong-hoon, Ko Young-jun, Ahn Jae-jun, and Hwang Jae-won) who participated in the Hangzhou Asian Games will also join Hwang Seon-hong.
There are four players selected for the first time. Among the players who participated in last year’s U-20 World Cup, Lee Seung-won, who won the Bronze Ball, striker Lee Young-jun, and defender Hwang In-taek were called up, and striker Park Ho-min was also named for the first time.
Coach Hwang Seon-hong said, “I would like to thank the K-League club managers and officials for their cooperation in selecting players. “I will make this a valuable time to become competitive in order to achieve my goal of participating in the Olympics for the 10th consecutive time,” he said.
The Olympic team will leave for Turkye on the evening of the 13th.
