Casino sales at Grand Korea Leisure Inc., which operates foreigner-only casinos in Korea, rose 230.2 percent year-on-year to nearly 32.9 billion won (US$26.1 million) in January, according to data submitted to the Korea Exchange on Friday. In the recently reported month, table game sales were W29.07 billion, up 257.3 percent year-on-year, and up 2.5 percent sequentially. Machine game sales were just under W3.02 billion, up 90.6 percent from a year ago, and up 38.4 percent month-on-month.

The company did not comment on the two reasons for the changes.

Grand Korea Leisure\'s annual casino sales rose 196.0% year-on-year to nearly W265.17 billion in 2022.

The company operates three foreigner-only, seven-luck-branded casinos. Two are in the capital city of Seoul, including Gangnam, and one is in the southeastern port city of Busan.

The group closed its Gangbuk Seoul concert hall at the Millennium Hilton Hotel on Dec. 30 and moved game operations to Seoul Dragon City, which will take effect on Dec. 31.

In December, Grand Korea Leisure announced that it would reduce the size of its Chinese marketing team and reduce the number of liaison offices in Japan by a third.
