Reproduction Properties of Pike ( Esox lucius L.,1758) Population in the I ???Ÿ ????± kl ????± Dam Lake (????ivril-Denizli/Turkey)
This study examined the reproduction biology of the pike (1758) in the I???Y kl?? ??+- Dam Lake were examined. From March 2003 to February 2005, 313 individuals were captured. 196 (between 1-8 ages) of these were females, while 117 (between 1-6 ages) were males. Females ranged in length from 21.5 cm (66.0 cm) to 66.0 cm (33442 g), and males were between 21.0 cm (73.0 g), to 52.3 cm (22363 g), respectively. While the length difference between male and female was significant (p0.05), the weight difference was not significant (p>0.05). The average condition factors for the different age groups ranged from 0.798+0.023 (males aged 1) to 1.367+0.28 (females aged 6). There were no significant differences between the sexes (p>0.05). The monthly mean gonadosomatic indexes ranged from 0.72 +-0.26 in July to 20.03+-3.888 8 in February. The GSI shows that the spawning period of the pike is between February (20.03+3.88) and April (3.57 + 0.488). The first sexual maturity of female pikes was at 24.9 cm. Males reached sexual maturity at 22.9 cm. The average fecundities of the different age groups ranged from 2517 eggs/fish at the first age to 91944 eggs/fish at the eighth. At the second age, 64291 eggs/kg fish was the most relative. F=1.5844*L2.6669 was the relationship between length (r=0.700, ve =84), and F=124.07*W0.8661 was the relationship between weight and fertility (r=0.743, ve =84). The egg diameters ranged from 0.691 to 2.413mm (mean 2.089mm), and the eggs were larger in older fish.
