President Jeong Ui-seon cheers for ‘true to archery’ “Believe in yourself, I am behind you”
President Jeong Ui-seon of the Korea Archery Association wears the gold medal he received from Koo Bon-chan, who won the men’s individual archery event at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics.
Hyundai Motor Group Chairman Chung Eui-sun, who is also the president of the Korea Archery Association, encouraged the Taegeuk archers participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics by saying, “Believe in yourself and shoot your arrows.”
Chairman Chung delivered a message of encouragement to the national archery team, which left for Paris, France on the 16th, through Association Vice President Jang Young-sul.
Chairman Chung said, “Don’t be shaken and always believe in yourself. (No matter the situation) always maintain your composure,” and emphasized, “Each person should have the mindset of, ‘Even if I can’t do well, my teammates can do well, and even if my teammates can’t do well, I can do well. ’”
The Paris Olympic archery competition will be held from the 28th to August 4th, local time, in the men’s and women’s team events, mixed team events, and men’s and women’s individual events.
The national archery team, which swept four gold medals at the Tokyo Olympics except for the men’s individual event, is determined to win at least three gold medals at the Paris Olympics.
Head coach Hong Seung-jin said, “Our first goal is to win three out of five gold medals. If we get lucky with wind and rain, we can expect even better results,” adding, “All the players are maintaining 100% condition.” It is widely acknowledged that
the Korean archery team is the best. The men’s team consists of Kim Woo-jin (Cheongju City Hall), Kim Je-deok (Yecheon County Office), and Lee Woo-seok (Kolon), who have demonstrated outstanding skills in international competitions such as the Olympics, Asian Games, and World Championships. They all have extensive experience on big stages.
The women’s national team, consisting of Im Si-hyeon (Korea National Sport University), a triple gold medalist at the Hangzhou Asian Games, Jeon Hoon-young (Incheon City Hall), and Nam Su-hyeon (Suncheon City Hall), has relatively little international experience, but their skills are world-class. In particular, the women’s national team is determined to achieve their 10th consecutive victory in the women’s team event since the 1988 Seoul Games.
The problem is that they have to overcome the pressure. With the size of the team reduced to 144 athletes in 22 events at the Paris Games, the prospects for medals for our country are not bright, so the burden on the national archery team has become even heavier.
Chairman Chung also worried that the athletes might not be able to fully demonstrate their skills due to the excessive burden.
He said, “Just do as you usually do, but if you try to do more than that, it could be too difficult,” and encouraged the athletes by saying, “I’ve said this many times, but don’t forget that ‘the athletes have the most reliable Chairman Chung Eui-sun behind them.'” 파워볼사이트
