Power BI Training
A Power BI heatmap is a graphical tabular representation of data where each value is represented by a different colour. A dataset’s patterns, trends, and relationships can be understood and analysed using this data visualisation technique. When working with big volumes of data, heatmaps are very helpful since they make it simple to spot regions with high and low values.
-
Axis: The heatmap typically has two axes, one representing the rows and the other representing the columns of your dataset. These axes might correspond to different categories, time periods, or any other relevant dimensions.
-
Color Gradient: Each cell in the heatmap is filled with a color that corresponds to the value it represents. A color gradient is used to represent a range of values. For example, lower values might be represented using cooler colors like blue, while higher values could be represented using warmer colors like red.
-
Legend: A legend is often included to help interpret the colors in the heatmap. It shows the range of values associated with each color in the gradient, allowing viewers to understand the relationship between colors and data values.
-
Data Labels: Data labels can be added to the individual cells to display the exact values they represent. This is particularly helpful when you want to provide precise information to the viewer.
