Pintarnya Raises $16.7M to Transform Jobs and Financial Services for Blue-Collar Workers in Indonesia

Pintarnya, an Indonesian employment platform, has secured $16.7 million in Series A funding to redefine how workers in the country access jobs and financial services. The round was led by Square Peg, with participation from Vertex Ventures Southeast Asia & India and East Ventures.

Founded in 2022 by Ghirish Pokardas, Nelly Nurmalasari, and Henry Hendrawan, Pintarnya addresses two pressing challenges for millions of Indonesians: finding reliable jobs and accessing responsible financial services.

Tackling Challenges for Informal Workers

Indonesia’s workforce has around 150 million people, with nearly 59% employed in the informal sector. These workers often struggle with job opportunities and are excluded from traditional financial services due to lack of formal documentation.

Pintarnya bridges this gap by:

  • Digitizing job matching with AI, making hiring faster and easier.
  • Offering secured lending options through partnerships with asset-backed lenders. Collateral includes items like gold, electronics, or vehicles.
  • Providing safer, affordable loans compared to predatory lending practices.

Growth and Impact

Since its seed funding in 2022, Pintarnya has:

  • Reached 10 million job seekers and 40,000 employers nationwide.
  • Achieved fivefold year-over-year revenue growth.
  • Set sights on reaching break-even by the end of this year.

Its primary users are 21 to 40-year-olds with high school or diploma-level education, a demographic often underserved by traditional job and fintech platforms.

Beyond Job Matching: Building a Worker Super App

Unlike platforms such as JobStreet, Glints, and Kalibrr — which mainly serve white-collar professionals — Pintarnya focuses on blue-collar and gig workers. Its platform includes:

  • Quick-apply features for walk-in interviews.
  • Affordable e-learning modules for upskilling.
  • In-app side gig opportunities.
  • Access to financial services including loans, with future plans for micro-savings and investments.

The Road Ahead

With this fresh funding, Pintarnya plans to strengthen its platform technology, expand financial service offerings, and potentially scale regionally.

“Our vision is for Pintarnya to become the everyday companion for Indonesia’s workers — not just helping them earn today, but enabling them to plan and grow for tomorrow,” said co-founder Henry Hendrawan.

As Pintarnya continues to scale, it aims to evolve into a super app for Indonesia’s workforce, empowering millions with job opportunities, skill development, and responsible financial tools.
