Obtaining an Umrah Visa.

Among the preparation for the holy pilgrimage of Umrah, obtaining an entry visa is arguably the most important aspect. Though a non-obligatory pilgrimage, Umrah gets performed by millions of Muslims traveling from across the globe through cheap hajj packages 2022.

While conforming to all of the local rules and regulations, pilgrims also have to fulfill all of the requisites of international travel.
So, here are some of the things to know about when obtaining an umrah visa.

Issuance.

1.For foreigners.
Foreigners must opt for the channel of an authorized travel agent for their umrah travel needs because they are not allowed to apply for visas on their own. In other words, only government-approved agents are responsible for arranging pilgrims’ transportation and lodging needs when in Saudia Arabia as well as managing the documentation procedures.

2.For locals.
For locals i.e., residents of Saudia Arabia and GCC nationals (Gulf Cooperation Council), there is no need for obtaining specific visas or permits for Umrah pilgrimage.

Documentation.

•A complete, duly signed and original Umrah visa application form must be submitted to the authorities with all of the relevant documents attached;
1)One recent passport-sized color photograph of the pilgrim with a white background. The photograph must contain a frontal, full-face view as no side angles are accepted.
2)If the applicant possesses a non-Muslim name, it is essential for him/her to also submit a ‘Shahadah certificate’ issued by a local mosque or an Islamic center i.e., confirming that the applicant is a Muslim.
3)Passports submitted at the time of visa application submission should have a validity of at least 6 months.
4)A copy of a confirmed, non-refundable airline ticket is also required to confirm that the pilgrim’s departure from Saudia Arabia is within two weeks from the date of arrival in the kingdom.
5)Proof of pre-booked accommodation is also necessary to prove the pilgrim’s legal stay in the kingdom for the entire period of Umrah’s stay.
6)A vaccination certificate should also be attached. However, vaccinations required from individuals traveling from different regions would also differ. So, get professional help from your travel agent for proper guidance on this.

Validity.

Umrah visas issued by Saudi Government have validity for only two weeks. Within this period, a pilgrim has to complete all of its Umrah rituals, making sure that his/her departure from Saudi Arabia is exactly on the 15th day from the date of entry.
