Mental Health Awareness must by Social Organizations- Sandeep Marwah
New Delhi: “The purpose of Mental Health Awareness Month is to raise awareness and educate the public about mental illnesses. Large number of people do not realize the effects of mental illness on overall health of the person,” said Gaurav Gupta Charter President Lions Club of Delhi Veg in a program designed to create mental Health awareness in association with International Chamber of Media And Entertainment Industry online.
“Mental illness is health condition involving changes in emotions, thinking or behaviour or combination of both. Mental illness is associated with distress and problem functioning in social work or family,” added K.L.Ganju Honorary Consul General of Comoros in India.
“Chronic illness, Family history, stressful life, over expectations, access of drugs and alcohol, business loss or fear of loss, social isolation, academic failures, humiliations, financial problem, break off or end of friendship, jobless and loss of social status are some of the major reasons for mental illness,” informed Dr. Sandeep Marwah President of Marwah Studios.
“When you find extreme mood swing or feeling of hopeless ness, saying good byes to family and friends, Lack of interest in activities, talking about death and suicides or any other withdrawal systems you can assess that person is going through mental illness,” expressed Dr. Sandeep Marwah also Chancellor of AAFT University.
Never discount their feelings, be a good listener, encourage them to get help , assist about suicidal feelings, don’t leave them alone, and motivate them to see a professional should be your duty to help your family member or friend if any going through this phase,”spoke Dr. Marwah to the audience.
