Mbappe ‘bangs’ Lee Kang-in to help PSG win the Ligue 1 title
It was a dream come true for many fans, a play in which Lee Kang-in (22) set up Kylian Mbappe (25) and Mbappe finished.
PSG won 3-2 away at Stade Francis Le Bleu in Brest, France, on Monday (Sept. 29) in the 10th round of the 2023-24 French Ligue 1.
Lee Kang-in, who started as a second midfielder, scored an assist in the 28th minute for a 1-0 lead. On a counter-attack, Lee played an out-front kick to Mbappe just short of the halfway line, and Mbappe received the ball and rattled the net with a right-footed shot after dribbling through.
It was Lee’s first offensive point and assist in four Ligue 1 games. It was Lee’s second consecutive game with an attacking point, having scored his first goal in the third leg of the UEFA Champions League (UCL) group stage against AC Milan (Italy) on April 26.
According to soccer statistics website Fúscore.com, Lee had two shots on goal and two shots on target. He made one key pass, completed 90.3% of his passes, and touched the ball 51 times. He also sent in four crosses, the most on the team.
Lee started the game and had a great chance just three minutes after kickoff. After receiving a pass from Mbappe, Lee fired a straight left-footed shot from the right side of the box that was saved by the goalkeeper.
Three minutes later, Warren Zaire Emery’s powerful shot was also saved by the Brest keeper.
PSG opened the scoring in the 16th minute through Emery. After receiving a pass from Bradley Barcola, Emery beat a defender in front of the arc before unleashing a powerful right-footed strike into the back of the net. A stunning wonder goal from Zaire Emery, born in 2006.
Lee had a golden opportunity in the 21st minute but was denied by a super save from the goalkeeper. Lee played a two-on-one with Gonzalo Hamus, but the goalkeeper threw himself to block his right-footed shot.
Continuing his light touch, Lee set up Mbappe’s goal with an exquisite out-and-out pass on the counterattack in the 28th minute. Down the halfway line, Lee played a pinpoint pass to Mbappe, who dribbled into space behind the defense before finishing with his right foot.
It was Lee’s first offensive point and first assist of his Ligue 1 career.
The lead was short-lived, however. Brest used their intimidating height advantage to get at the PSG goal.
The struggling PSG side conceded a header in the 43rd minute to Brest’s Steve Munier and an equalizer six minutes into the second half from a set piece by Jeremy LeDouaron.
PSG fought back, and in the 13th minute, Mbappe unleashed an exquisite curling shot from the left side of the box that went just wide of the post.
PSG struggled to contain Brest’s onslaught, but goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma made a series of saves to keep them out of trouble. In the second half, Lee stayed in the midfield and focused on linking up with his teammates, but his performance was a little less impressive than in the first half.
Lee exited the field in the 29th minute for Vitinha.
With the score tied at 2-2, PSG scored the winner in the 44th minute through Mbappe. Stepping up to take the penalty kick after a video assistant referee (VAR) review, Mbappe slotted the ball into the back of the net after his initial shot was saved by the goalkeeper. Mbappe’s 10th goal of the league.
In the end, PSG, who defended their one-goal lead well, moved to 6W3D1L (21 points), one point behind leaders Nice (22 points). 스포츠토토맨
