Micro, Small, and Medium-Sized Businesses (MSMEs) can register through the MSME Registration process in India. It is a simplified online registration process introduced by the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) in July 2020, replacing the earlier system of Udyog Aadhar Memorandum (UAM) registration. This new registration process aims to provide easy access to various schemes and benefits provided by the government to MSMEs.
Process of Getting MSME Registration
The process of getting MSME Registration in India is a simple and straightforward process. The steps involved are:
Step 1: Visit the MSME Registration portal
To register for MSME Registration, the first step is to visit the official website of MSME Registration, i.e., On the website, click on the “New MSME Registration” option.
Step 2: Provide the Required Information
After clicking on the “New MSME Registration” option, you will be redirected to a new page where you will need to provide the required information. The following are the details that need to be provided:
a) Aadhaar Number: Aadhaar number is mandatory for MSME Registration. If you are an NRI, you can provide your passport number.
b) Name of the Entrepreneur: You will need to provide your name as mentioned in your Aadhaar card.
c) Social Category: You need to select your social category as General/SC/ST/OBC.
d) Gender: You need to select your gender as Male/Female/Transgender.
e) Physically Handicapped: You need to select Yes/No based on whether you are physically handicapped or not.
f) Name of the Enterprise: You need to provide the name of your enterprise.
g) Type of Organization: You need to select the type of organization as Proprietorship/Partnership/Company/LLP/Co-operative Society/Trust/Society.
h) PAN Number: You need to provide your PAN number.
i) Location of Plant: You need to provide the location of your plant in India.
j) Official Address: You need to provide the official address of your enterprise.
k) Date of Commencement: You need to provide the date of commencement of your enterprise.
l) Previous Registration Details: If you have registered under the earlier UAM system, you need to provide the UAM number and the date of registration.
Step 3: Provide Additional Information
After providing the required information, you need to provide additional information, such as the number of employees in your enterprise, the total investment made in the enterprise, and the annual turnover of the enterprise. You also need to provide details of the bank account linked to your enterprise.
Step 4: Verify the Details and Submit
After providing all the necessary information, you need to verify the details and submit the application. Once the application is submitted, you will receive an acknowledgment number, which you can use to track the status of your application.
