Jeep Electric Vehicles to Arrive in Europe Early Next Year

Jeep electric vehicles are expected to arrive in European showrooms early next year. The company has unveiled a number of details about the new battery-electric vehicles. The Recon and Wagoneer models are based on a powertrain that combines two electric motors and a 400-volt battery pack. Another feature is a fuel-efficient turbocharged engine.

Recon and Wagoneer models open for customer orders early next year

Jeep is preparing to introduce its first electric SUV, the Wagoneer S. Its codename is Avenger, and the vehicle is expected to hit the streets in Europe and other markets early next year. The company has yet to announce pricing or the locations where it will be built. The Wagoneer S will have a range of 400 miles and a 0-to-60 mph time of 3.5 seconds. It will also have an illuminated grille.

The Wagoneer and Recon models are both electric vehicles, and they will be available early next year for customer orders. The Recon will be based on the STLA Large platform, which also underpins the Wagoneer S. Jeep spokespeople have stressed that the Recon will not replace the Wrangler, which remains an icon of the Jeep brand. The Wagoneer EV is set to be one of the best-selling PHEVs in North America, but its range is limited.

Wrangler 4xe powertrain integrates two electric motors

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe’s plug-in hybrid powertrain is unique from the traditional Wrangler. This new model is designed to be more eco-friendly, yet still has a satisfying drive. Its battery and other hybrid components have been strategically placed to move the center of gravity forward. Compared to the conventional Wrangler, the 4xe’s ride is softer, but drivers should still expect a bit of bumpiness, just like a conventional SUV.

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe’s new powertrain integrates two electric motors and a starter-generator motor. The former assumes the role of a traditional 12-volt starter motor, while the latter replaces the torque converter of the eight-speed automatic transmission. A specialized control system manages the output of the two motors to keep the powertrain smooth and seamless.

400-volt battery pack

The Jeep 4xe powertrain uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter gas engine coupled with a 400-volt battery pack and two electric motors. It’s available on the Wrangler and Grand Cherokee, and provides up to 25 miles of all-electric driving. The battery pack is tucked beneath the rear seats, so it can withstand the rigors of off-roading. It also charges at home, or at a public charging station.

The next generation 400-volt battery pack will power the Jeep Avenger electric vehicle. The electric Jeep is set to be launched in Europe in early 2023. The Stellantis Group has joined forces with Nidec to create the battery pack for the new vehicle. The battery system for the Jeep Avenger will be able to provide 18 miles of range in just three minutes. It can be charged using a 100 kW Mode 4 cable.

Fuel-efficient turbocharged engine
