A coc certificate is a document provided by a reputable organization (often the manufacturer but sometimes an independent lab) attesting that a product has been tested and found to comply with all applicable standards and specifications.

A Certificate of Conformity (CoC) is necessary for the sale of certain products in certain countries, such as Bluetooth devices in the United States, and may be requested by a buyer to guarantee that the product being precision engineered has been evaluated and passes the established standard within a configuration and meets both technical and security requirements.

How often should a buyer request a CoC from a supplier?

A CoC is often required by a buyer for critical or high-risk items or components. And in other circumstances, additional documentation is needed for certification or to inform the end user/customer that the product is safe.

An example is as follows. Purchasing fan blades for airplane engines is a common expense for airlines. These cast blades must undergo an x-ray inspection to rule out the presence of any flaws. As a consequence of a failure brought on by a flaw, lives may be lost. As a result, a Certificate of Conformity (in which the blade maker certifies that the blades meet certain criteria) must be supplied.
