Previous Year Papers: I know it sounds strange that without even touching the syllabus or doing any study why am I asking you to go through the previous year papers.
The reason is that while studying at home, especially on your own, you do not have an idea about the type of questions being asked in the paper.
When you are attending classes, the teacher does this job for you.
So, when you are self-studying for an exam like SSC CGL or CHSL, you need to get an idea about the kind of questions being asked in the paper because the syllabus is very huge and time is very less.
This will ensure that you do not waste your time on unnecessary topics. And you can study smartly.
Practice the Previous year question papers thoroughly and get a clear idea of kind of questions being asked along with its difficulty level.

Preparation for Tier 1 & Tier 2: Once you have a clear idea of questions being asked, pick up subjects and respective topics according to your strength and weakness. For example, some students would be weak in Mathematics while others would face difficulty in English. So, accordingly, you need to devote your time for such subjects.
