How to Maintain Your Glock Pistol?

Owning a gun such as America’s favorite Gun, Glock is something that will make anyone takes pride in their gun. However, it has been seen and noticed on several online gun forums that people aren’t good enough to maintain their gun in their prime condition, despite the nature of their gun. Guns like Glock or accessories such as CAA MCK gen 2 require maintenance so they can work at their best for longer. The striker-fired guns (like the Glock pistols and Smith & Wesson M&P pistols) even with their immense popularity among the people around don’t do well just because of poor maintenance practices.

If you also believe that you are unable to keep up in terms of maintenance of your firearm and want to know about how things should be working for your Glock pistol let\'s discuss some important factors to maintain your Glock pistols. And even if you have some other models and accessories for Glock such as micro Roni gen 3 the rules will be applied to them as well. Almost every striker-fired pistol like the Smith & Wesson M&P series, and with some slight changes, the same applies on hammered fire pistols as well.

How to Start Cleaning

Before we dive deeper into maintaining your guns, here is what you do first before starting actual cleaning.

Read your owner’s manual

Every gun is different and even with similar-looking chassis, there will be some changes with different models. When you will buy your first Glock 17 or any other gun then you will be provided with the user or owner manual like most of the products such as MCK gen 2.

While you will have read about the MCK manual for a better idea about how to assemble it, not all of us will do the hassle of checking our gun’s owner manual. For a better idea, you should study the manual that comes with the gun for the manufacturer’s recommendations regarding assembly and disassembly, and cleaning your gun. You will get to know some good tips in there so take a look at it.

Check the Safety Rules

This is perhaps one of the most important things to do with any type of gun you own. You should b following the rules for a firearm of your agency every time you hold the gun. It is even crucial when you are about to disassemble and clean your firearm, or about to install CAA MCK in your Glock.

You will need to clear or unload it safely according to the rules and guidelines provided by the manufacturer or your agency. Make sure that the ammunition will be placed separately from the gun usually into the other room until you have decided to load it again.

Following Protective Measures

For further protection, you should be wearing safety goggles to protect your eyes, and always work while wearing disposable gloves so the chemical residue will stay off your skin. Also, make sure the area you are working in has adequate ventilation.

Once you have completed your work, you should clean your work area and don’t forget to wash your hand and face with cold water. Coldwater will help avoid keeping the pores opening so the exposure will be lesser. Also, this will help avoid getting any chemicals or residue on your hands which will later irritate your eyes and skin upon touching.

Cleaning Your Glock

If you have or wish to buy CAA MCK gen 2 then you will want to get the most out of it and this can be done only when your Glock is working fine. This is why you will need to make sure that you have a clean Glock to be working with. Here is how to do it.

Solvent Patches

There are tons of different cleaning products to choose from to clean your firearm. There is an online guide available by experts where you can learn about how to clean your guns. Start by using a patch socked in the solvent through the chamber and the bore of the barrel several times this will coat the feed ramp, interior of the barrel, and chamber evenly. Once you have done it, set it aside for dry.

Drying Out the Interior

Once you are done, it is time to wipe out the interior to clean any residue stuff off. Use a toothbrush with some solvent and scrub any interior surfaces and keep an eye on the slide rail and breech face. Now grip on the slide muzzle from the end while scrubbing to avoid getting the solvent contacting or going into the interior of the striker. This is because it is crucial to keep it as dry as possible. Once you are done, set the slide aside to dry and muzzle should be pointing down for the water solvent to draining out if it has made its way into the striker.

Cleaning the recoil spring

Now it’s time to clean out the recoil spring assembly by using a dry rag or patch. Don’t worry it will not require you to put much attention. Just when you get it, clean and dry it. You can also use a dry toothbrush.

The Frame

You should start brushing the interior and exterior of the frame by using a small gun cleaning brush designed for this purpose. Next, you should clean by wiping down the clean surface by using some patch socked in the solvent. Once you have cleaned it, use a lubricant drop on the end of the trigger bar. Use another patch with lubricant oil and clean the rear frame of your gun.

Once you have cleaned your Glock, now is the time to assemble it. You should have the idea now how you disassemble it and if not then start by inserting the barrel, recoil spring assembly, and slider back on the frame. If you have done all the steps right, your Glock will be ready to be customized with some top-notch MCK Glock conversion kits and accessories from platforms like CKS Tactical. You will feel significant improvement in shooting and recoil after cleaning. Just make sure you do it at least once in a month or two especially when you don\'t use it too often.
