PET release film is a special material widely used in thermal roll-to-roll transfer. The substrate is usually PET, which is covered with silicone adhesive, so it’s also known as silicone film. The traditional thickness is usually from eighteen to twenty-one millimeters, although it may be more or less depending on the thickness of the film to be applied. There are usually cold and hot surface separated and torn surfaces. The major advantage of this type of transfer is that there is no need for heating.
Roll-to-roll pet release film has two major uses: first, the support of images during photo processing; and second, for use in electronic products. The PET film can be coated with any transparent coating. Most popular coatings include PVC (polyethylene) and silicone. Both of these materials are capable of resisting extreme heat and liquids. It is common for coated PET to be coated with lead acetate, a substance commonly used for glowing materials.

As a rule, it is advisable to avoid using pet release film on the following objects: watches, calculators, cameras, mirrors, etc. Some objects may be protected by a small layer of plastic film, but that will only provide a short-term insulation from moisture. A film will not serve you well if you want to keep your valuable objects in tip top shape for a longer time.

Residual adhesion is actually formed because of the conductivity of certain metals. But the particular form of corrosion that has its root in the presence of too much heat is totally dependent on the silicon. Silicon, being a highly volatile element, forms very strong compounds when it comes in contact with certain other metals. The only substance that can neutralize the effect of silicon oil film on metal is silicone oil.
