You may, if necessary, have to uninstall QuickBooks Desktop 2022. In this blog post, we will explain how you can repair or uninstall both 32- and 64-bit versions of QuickBooks. Please note that you should have admin rights to perform the steps further provided in this post.
If QuickBooks Desktop 2022 would require repairing, it would give a pop-up message. Select Next to instigate the repairing process and then press finish to complete. If you leave the process before pressing Finish, you may receive an error message about missing installation files the next time you try to use QuickBooks Desktop 2022.
When you repair QuickBooks Desktop 2022, it gets reset to its original installation state with no added updates that occurred after. Recent updates get reinstalled if the Automatic updates feature is turned on. In case, the feature is turned off, that should be performed manually:
- Go to the Help menu.
- Select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
- Click on the Update Now tab.
- Click on Get Updates to start the download.
- Once the download is complete, restart QuickBooks.
Do you need to uninstall the current or previous version of QuickBooks Desktop
We have been using 64-bit systems for a while and it works well with 32-bit QuickBooks versions as well. You, however, may have queries about running previous versions along with QuickBooks Desktop 2022. So here is what you need to know – you can install and use multiple QuickBooks Desktop versions on one computer.
You can keep QuickBooks Pro or Premier 2022 along with Enterprise 22.0. However, keeping the previous version and uninstalling QuickBooks Desktop 2022 or vice versa may be challenging. Let’s say you have a 32-bit version of QuickBooks, and you decide to uninstall the 64-bit version of QuickBooks Desktop 2022. In this case, some of the files shared by the two versions may be affected.
If you have a 32-bit QuickBooks Desktop and have to uninstall QuickBooks Desktop 2022
At the last step of the uninstalling QuickBooks Desktop 2022, you will be asked to repair your older QuickBooks version.
Click Finish and allow the uninstaller to complete the repair of the 32-bit version of QuickBooks. Wait until the repair is complete or you may get a message about missing installation files the next time you open QuickBooks.
If the Automatic updates feature is turned off, install the updates manually after the repair.
