A personal license ensures that any person who manages or supervises a company that delivers or sells alcohol will be competent. Once you have obtained your license, you can be the designated premises supervisor of any company that supplies or sells alcohol. All premises licenses, including those for major pubs or home-based web sellers, require a DPS.

A personal license, which allows you to sell alcohol for any licensed business, is similar to a driver’s license.

A personal license is not necessary for employment in bars or other establishments that serve alcoholic beverages. However, it can increase your chances of getting work. For locations that have alcohol sales licenses, a designated premises supervisor must be issued a personal alcohol licence course.

If the other person does not consent, the person must authorize the sale of alcohol using a personal license.

Requirements for Apply

You must be at least 18 years old.

To apply, you must have a BIIAB Level 2 Award in Personal Licence Holders or equivalent recognized certification. To apply for a personal license, you must first have an approved qualification. License holders will be able to understand the licensing regulations and fulfill larger social obligations when selling alcoholic beverages. The Home Secretary recognizes personal license qualifications.

Relevant criminal convictions must be reported to your local council. They could affect whether or not you are approved as a licensee. You must also provide a basic criminal conviction disclosure form.

A “professional person” must attest to two passport-sized photos.

How to Apply for a Personal Licence

1. Register for an APLH Personal Licence Course

The course is online so you can access it from your own home. If you wish, you can also attend the course at a specific location personal licence training. APLH training is one-day long and includes 40 multiple-choice questions tests. You will be awarded the Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders, (RQF), certificate after completing the course.

2. Please complete the online application form

When applying for a personal license, fill out and submit the personal licensure qualification.

3. Disclosure of Convictions and Declaration

You must complete the declaration form and convictions form to apply for a personal license to sell alcohol.

To apply for a personal license to sell alcohol, you must declare any convictions. These convictions could affect your ability to be accepted as a licensee.

4. Pay PS37 Personal Licence Fee

Pay the personal license fee after completing the application and submitting all required documents.

Change of Details

Holders of Personal Licenses are responsible for keeping their records current. If you don’t, you risk being prosecuted.

Your licensing authorities must be notified of any changes to your address or name. Your licensing authority is the organization that issued your license. This service is available for PS10.50
