Heavy Duty Casters
Heavy Duty Casters For a Variety of Applications
Heavy duty caster are used for a variety of applications, including moving equipment and material. They are also popular in industrial settings, such as in forklifts and mobile workbenches.
When casters heavy duty, casters can be an important tool to protect workers from injury. They are also helpful in preventing debris from collecting and damaging floors, which reduces the need for maintenance.
The right type of caster is important for a variety of applications, and we offer a wide selection of casters in three different weight ranges: light duty casters for up to 500 pounds; medium duty casters for 501-2,000 pounds; and heavy duty casters for more than 2,000 pounds.
Wheel Materials
The wheels on casters for heavy loads must be made from durable materials that resist rusting, corrosion and other types of damage. Steel is common in caster wheels, but there are other options available. For example, polyurethane wheels are more resistant to rust and corrosion than steel.
Other materials for wheels include cast iron, ductile steel, phenolic and nylon. Casters made from phenolic and other hard materials collect staples, metal particles and other floor debris that embed into the treads of the wheels, eventually leading to damage to the flooring.
Kingpins and rigs
The kingpin is the rivet, threaded stud, or bolt with nut that holds together the mounting plate and fork assembly on a swivel caster. When buying casters for heavy equipment, make sure to buy high-quality kingpins to prevent damage and a high total cost of ownership.
