Flathead Lake Tours
When you visit Flathead Lake, the Montana wilderness is yours to explore. From fishing to day hiking to a picnic on Wild Horse Island, there are endless ways to experience the pristine beauty of this beautiful lake and its surrounding mountains.
One of the best ways to experience Flathead Lake is by boat. Whether you have your own boat or are taking a tour, there are many opportunities to see the lake from a new perspective. Some of the fishing charters will take you to Wild Horse Island, a day-use state park that is home to a handful of wild horses and other wildlife. Others will offer a scenic sailing cruise or simply take you around Big Arm Bay to see the views from the water.
A cruise is another great way to experience the pristine beauty of Flathead Lake. You can take a short bay tour with a company like “Flathead Lake Boat Tours,” or for a longer cruise, you can book a spot on the Shadow Cruiser, a 55 foot boat that will take you around Big Arm Bay and Swan Point before heading back towards Aanerud Landing Marina. This is a perfect option for families and couples who want to enjoy the sights and sounds of Flathead Lake without spending the whole day on the lake.
If you are looking for a more active adventure, there is the Flathead Lake Marine Trail. This series of routes is designed for both experienced kayakers and those just starting out. You can find maps of the trail at the visitor center and most boat rental shops will have them as well. The trails can be challenging and can take you into rocky areas that are less shielded from the elements, so they are ideal for the experienced kayaker.
For those who aren’t as adventurous, you can also rent a pontoon or a houseboat to spend the day on the lake. A few of the marinas on the lake have rentals available, but there are also a number of campgrounds that offer boat slips and beautiful vistas of Flathead Lake. One of the most popular is Finleys Point Campground on the eastern shore of the lake, which offers a beach and four boat slips.
There are so many things to do on Flathead Lake, and a few of these excursions will help you create travel memories that last a lifetime. Whether you are an avid outdoorsperson or prefer to relax by the shoreline, these flathead lake tours are sure to inspire you.
