Five unique industries that use Industrial Printers
When you think of printers, the office usually comes to mind. Large rooms with cubicles and business people who need to have their reports ready before 5 p.m. come to mind. Of course, offices use printers, but have you ever considered that they are also used in many industries other than general business? Or that ink can be printed on more than just paper? Below are five unique industries that use industrial printers.
1. egg and poultry industry – Have you ever noticed the stamps on eggs or egg cartons? The ink used on eggs or other food products is called “food ink” and must have certain properties to function properly. Since not just any ink can be used on food, it must be compatible with the surface of the food and smudge resistant.
2. beverages – expiration and best-before dates cannot be printed by themselves, so industrial printers are used to mark cartons, pallets of soft drinks, and even metal cola cans. With the right printer, ink and software, plastic and glass water bottles can also be printed.
3. aerospace – The ink and printers used in the aerospace industry are different from other processes. Although this sector uses the ink and printers for many of the same things as the beverage industry (i.e., printing on metal or plastic), they generally need to be much more heat resistant and have stronger adhesion.
4. Medical – Similar to the aerospace industry, printers and inks used in the medical field must have certain characteristics to be effective. While aerospace focuses on heat resistance, the medical field requires inks that are alcohol resistant and have strong adhesion. The medical field also requires certain inks that can be printed on things like IV bags, x-ray films, and rubber tubing.
5. wood – Not surprisingly, the wood industry requires a certain type of ink that can be printed on wood. This may sound simple, but have you ever tried writing on wood with a regular pen? It doesn’t work well, and to stamp wood, certain types of ink and printers are used to make the mark visible, legible, and durable enough to survive transport from the lumberyard to the warehouse to your home.
We also provide Industries date code printers.
In addition to these areas, industrial printers are also used in many other fields, such as graphics, pharmaceuticals, and wire and cable. It goes without saying that different industries require different printers. Depending on your specific needs, whether it’s egg stamps or labeling a rubber hose, there is a printer that will meet all of your printing needs.
