Here’s why BYOD (kind) makes sense
When you were a kid, cell phones were for bosses and big companies. If you are of a certain age, you will recall those days. Cell phones are no longer a distant memory in the workplace, and employees now have access to their cell phones wherever they are.
However, for the past six years – if not ten – the discussion has avoided whether it would be better to bring workers of boss-owned corporations into business or simply let them use their cellphones and computers to do their jobs.
As COVID-19 and remote operations became more common, many companies began discussing this issue. The demand for gear turned out to be higher than expected, so employees had to reuse their own devices to complete them. Nonetheless, with closed access gradually and financially planned for the future of network availability, have we ever reached a point where supply chain network organizations will no longer exist?
Individuals have indicated that the right answer is somewhat confusing. Cell phones seem to be one of the main topics of BYOD policy debates. However, more than half of our analysts believe that supplying workers with phones is not a smart idea. There is something special about this that they discover. There are some CIOs who are happy to provide their users with access to a safe mailbox via their own devices.
The CEOs are just finalizing their internal BYOD policies. Whenever possible, they insist on bringing their own laptops. PDAs, however, are not allowed. People like to use the same PDA both for work and personal reasons, so it makes sense that they carry only one.
Mobile device demand can also be influenced by jobs. Just the sales reps of the organization had cell phones before COVID, as they were the only ones who spent a lot of time outside of the office. The rest of the staff had desk phones.
Microsoft Teams-powered softphone solutions have become increasingly popular among organizations adopting work-at-home practices. Thus, the organizations will be eliminating desktop computers.
The trend away from landlines over the past year has positively been observed, with just half of the company partners requesting a telephone when calling Teams becomes available in the future. Some organizations simply require their mobile phones to be redirected – if it is a call from them.
Field Services – Desktop, Laptop, and Printer Support
Work tools are generally needed by workers. A simplified support system can also benefit companies. When IT staff offer field service and support, it’s problematic if every user has their own name and a different issue to resolve. In addition to BYOD, FYOD or Fix Your Own Device – should also be considered.
There will always be a place for organization gear (at least in the medium and long term), since safety will grow because of critical decision needs, in addition. Furthermore, by having tools at our disposal, the digitally-driven industry will continue to grow as individuals are provided with the right tools for their work.
