Exploring the Depths of Sanatana Dharma through Sri Aurobindo’s Teachings | HUA
This course is about the renaissance of Sanatana Dharma, which Sri Aurobindo believed was necessary for all of humanity. Sanatana Dharma is based on the core principles of seeking Truth alone, seeking peace, harmony, beauty, perfection, purity, self-knowledge, oneness and unity, light and delight, and does not reject any aspect of life.
The course is divided into three parts. Part 1 covered an overview of Sri Aurobindo’s life and works, the fundamentals of Sanatana Dharma, foundations of Indian culture, an overview of the sacred texts of Sanatana Dharma, the idea of Spirituality, Dharma, Purushartha, Brahmacharya and the message of Sanatana Dharma to humanity. Part 2 introduced the sacred texts of Sanatana Dharma (Vedas, Upanishads, Gita and Tantra) and evaluated those in the light of Sri Aurobindo.
Part 3 aims to introduce some of the key concepts of Sanatana Dharma such as Gods and Goddesses, Punarjanma or Rebirth, Law of Karma and Human Destiny, Avatarhood, Rituals, Fasts and Festivals, etc. These concepts are important to understand to delve deep into the endless depth of Sanatana Dharma. All these concepts will be discussed in the light of Sri Aurobindo’s Perspectives.

The course aims to help learners understand the nuances of fundamental texts of Sanatana Dharma, appreciate the subtleties and profundities of these texts, and evaluate and apply their teachings in their day to day life. Learners will also be introduced to the contribution of the Rishi tradition of Bharat and learn many Mantras and other relevant portions of the sacred texts and internalize their message. They will also understand the basis of how the Rishis of the past were able to create such a great repository of spiritual knowledge.
In conclusion, this course is an attempt to revisit the principles, core teachings, the Shastras, practices, the past, present, and future of Sanatana Dharma in the light of Sri Aurobindo. The aim is to understand the contribution of Sanatana Dharma to the world and the future of Sanatana Dharma.
