Those who still qualify for a trip to Qatar, but whose clubs did not make the playoffs, are gathering to keep fit for the Football World Cup. A small group of FIFA World Cup hopefuls will begin gathering in Frisco, Texas on Tuesday as the US officially travels to Qatar with a “fitness camp” for MLS off-season players.

Nine people are on Coach Gregg Berhalter’s initial roster, with more likely to come based on the results of this weekend’s two conference finals. The camp will run until November 5, the date of the MLS Cup final. The 26-man line-up will then be announced on November 9, with training in Al Rayyan, Qatar starting on November 14.

The nine players invited to Frisco are:

Goalkeeper: Gabriel Slonina (Chicago Fire/Chelsea)

Defenders: Aaron Long (New York Red Bulls), Shaq Moore (Nashville SC), DeAndre Yedlin (Inter Miami), Walker Zimmerman (Nashville SC)

Midfielders: Cristian Roldan (Seattle Sounders)

Forwards: Paul Arriola (FC Dallas), Jesús Ferreira (FC Dallas), Jordan Morris (Seattle Sounders)

Everyone, except Slonina, participated in the qualification of the World Championship among the Americans, which ended at the end of March. The 18-year-old is unlikely to make the Football World Cup team, but he was invited to train with US coaches during his move from Fire to Chelsea.
