Types of Drug and Alcoholism Tests
Hair and nails are the most effective and definitive ways for alcohol and drug testing.
- Nail Drug Test: It’s essential to nail clipping as close to the nail bed as feasible when conducting a nail drug screening test. A single clipping is enough if the nail is 5 mm or longer. Approximately 10 milligrams of nail clippings are required if the nail’s length is shorter.
- Hair Drug Test: For the hair drug test, about 200 hair strands around the thickness of a pencil are gathered. Two kinds of drug testing can be performed: Overview Analysis & Segmented Analysis. The overview analysis averages the rate of drug use over the test period. On the other hand, Segmented Analysis examines a person’s drug use on a monthly basis.
- Nail Alcohol Test: The nail alcohol testing needs approximately 10 mg of nail clippings. Nails are comprised of keratin fibers. Nail alcohol testing uses the alcohol metabolite ethyl glucuronide as a biomarker for alcohol usage. Furthermore, they offer a twelve-month detection window.
- Hair Alcohol Test: The most possible and available samples for this testing are head hairs, but other body hairs, like beard, chest, leg, and arm hairs, may also be used. Based on the hair length received from these parts of the body, it’s possible to identify the time of alcohol consumption. Again, a minimum of a 3-centimetre section is required.
Individuals may experiment with alcohol or recreational drugs when they migrate from one place to another and live independently. To control the abuse of these substances, a person can make their dear ones experience drug and alcohol testing.
