Different Types Of HDMI Connectors
Introduction
High-Definition Multimedia Interface, commonly known as HDMI, is a device used to transmit audio and video signals from one source like television or laptop to another one. An electronic appliance manufacturer initially built it, but it has been widely in demand for all the laptop computer interfaces nowadays. The Type-C HDMI cable is one of the perfect choices today due to its functions and features.
Functions Of HDMI Cables
The HDMI aims to better the connecting standards of the ongoing market products. They have successfully built and manufactured compact connectors and cables, which support a particular device’s audio and video interface. Due to this advancement in their technology, HDMI has taken over the DVI.
The HDMI interface supports and allows one port to transmit digital video of high resolution and high-quality audio signals through an HDMI connector.
Types of HDMI Connectors
HDMI connectors come in three sizes: Micro, Mini, and Standard and have five types – Type A, Type B, Type C HDMI adapter, Type D, Type E. Though you can get both ends Type C HDMI cables as well, there are other options too that are available. This is in combination with multiple variations of HDMI connectors as below:
- Type A
It was launched with standard size and specifications and has been the mainstream choice among HDMI. It’s more equipped to the users of AV equipment like televisions, satellite boxes, DVD players, recorders, gaming consoles, etc. It’s the ideal type wherever there’s not an issue of space.
It contains 19 pins and has bandwidth for HDTV, EDTV, UHD, and 4K modes. The right product can be selected easily as a wide range of dimensions and specifications are present.
- Type B
This HDMI connector was also initially launched in the standard size. The goal of this was to carry a dual-link DVD-I video. There’s a drawback in this product: the size of the connector is quite large, so it has not been used much. This connector was taken over by HDMI 1.3 as the speed of a single link was far better than the old dual-link one.
- Type C
The Type C cable or mini – HDMI connector is smaller than the standard ones but has a better 19 pin configuration and other specifications. The connector is small and covers all the functionality of Type A.
The HDMI Type-C cable was brought into the market as the demand for smaller connectors increased with all the specifications of the types above.
The HDMI Type C USB connector can be seen in various portable devices that we use daily, including DSLR cameras, tablets, and camcorders.
- Type D
The micro-HDMI connector or the D-type connector closely resembles the micro-USB connector. This HDMI connector has a 19-pin configuration inside. It came into the market with the 1.4 Version, upgrading the previous one. It was built for small portable devices and mobile phones for video-audio connectivity.
- Type E
This HDMI connector is made for automotive functions. It is being provided with a locking tab to prevent vibrating losses and keep it safe from moisture and dirt getting inside.
Conclusion
Many connectors and cables are present in the market that allows HDMI connectivity with different interfaces. Among all the connectors, the Type-C Dual HDMI is the one that has attracted the most people. These help in the easy and fast transmission of data from one source to another, thus, ensuring capability and efficiency. It’s high time to get your hands on the best connectors and adapters from Black-i to get speedy connectivity on your device.
