Cheong Kwan-Jang received applause from ‘13,000 people’ and won 3-2 in a friendly match against Indonesian All-Stars
Jeong Kwan-jang Park Eun-jin is attempting a quick break during a friendly game against the Indonesian All-Stars.
Women’s professional volleyball player Jeong Kwan-jang won the friendly match against Indonesian All-Star after a full set.
On the 20th (local time), Cheong Kwan Jang won a friendly match against the Indonesian All-Star team at the Indonesia Arena in Jakarta, Indonesia, with a set score of 3-2 (25-17 25-15 19-25 18-25 15-12).
Since it was a friendly match, there was no meaning in winning or losing, but Cheong Kwan Jang spread the charm of ‘K-Volleyball’ to Indonesia and thrilled the 12,000 spectators who visited the stadium.
On this day, the cheers for the Korean players were so hot that the Indonesian Arena felt like Cheong Kwan-Jang’s home stadium. When Giovanna Milana (registered name Zia) and Megawatti Puttywi (registered name Mega) were called, following Yeom Hye-sun, Park Hye-min, and Jeong Ho-young, the stadium was filled with tremendous cheers from the audience.
According to the Indonesian organizers, all 13,000 tickets were sold that day. A small number of Indonesian fans who purchased expensive tickets worth about 500,000 won participated in the pre-game fan meeting event and had a meaningful time.
The content of the game was even hotter. As coach Ko Hee-jin predicted the day before, saying, “Regardless of whether we win or lose, we will play a game that will entertain Indonesian fans,” the game was played like a friendly game and an All-Star game.
In the first set, the main players of both teams faced each other, and in the second set, both teams replaced a large number of players. In the 3rd and 4th sets, not only the players but also the coaches were exchanged to increase interest. In particular, the performances of Mega and Yeom Hye-seon, who played between the two teams, shone. While the first and second sets ended with Cheong Kwan-Jang’s victory, Yeom Hye-sun and Mega played on the Indonesian All-Star team in the third set. Yeom Hye-sun completely changed the Indonesian All-Star team by working well with her Indonesian players. She led the Indonesian team’s pipe attack with a fantastic back toss, leading the team to victory in the third set. As soon as Mega entered the court, he showed off a series of serve aces and blocks, invigorating the team. In the 4th set, even the manager was changed. Coach Hee-jin Ko and Eun-jin Park moved to the Indonesian All-Star team. Then, Ho-young Jeong tried to bring Indonesian middle blocker Yola Yuliana to participate in the women’s volleyball Asia quarter tryout in May, but failed due to strong resistance from Eun-jin Park. Two Indonesian players came to Cheongkwanjang.
A serious match continued again in the 5th set, where the set score was 2-2.
With Cheong Kwan-Jang being tied 1-3, Mega changed the mood by scoring three goals in a row. Jeong Kwan-Jang, who overcame the crisis thanks to Park Eun-Jin’s continuous moving attack, won by taking a 3-point advantage thanks to Jeong Ho-Young’s consecutive blocking scores. Meanwhile, this friendly match was held at the invitation of the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports. The Indonesian Sports Fund and Management Agency (LPDUK), an affiliated organization of the Indonesian Ministry of Youth and Sports, believed that last season’s performance at Jeonggwanjang played a significant role in promoting Indonesia’s national prestige. The Cheong Kwan-Jang team was invited to Indonesia to provide an opportunity to promote friendly relations between Korea and Indonesia through sports. Jeong Kwan-jang thrilled Indonesian volleyball fans by showing off not only his skills but also ‘fun volleyball.’ Cheong Kwan-Jang further increased his popularity in Indonesia through this game. 고스톱
