Pull bars are fitted with a choice of towing hitches. Most normal caravans and trailers manage with a 50 mm basketball, while off-road models might demand a more complicated off-road hitch. Caravans and trailers must be fixed with safety chains; these should be solidly attached with the towing vehicle.
In 1999 the National Road Transfer Commission (NRTC) introduced some encouraged towing limits, of used by all States and Territories. The national regulations, as laid out by the NRTC, declare that the fat of the filled caravan must not surpass the advised limit as recommended by producer of the towing car, or the said volume of the towing apparatus fixed to the vehicle. If producer hasn’t given limits, which, remarkably, is not that unusual, the fat of the loaded caravan must be no more than one and a half instances the unloaded fat of the towing car, provided the caravan is fitted with brakes.
Weight Distribution We have all seen the car and caravan mixture with the hitch nearly hauling on the road. Weight-distribution bars, widely offered by caravan accessory stores, can be used to maintain a far more stage profile of the vehicle and van. These are generally common gear for larger vans, but should be considered for many nevertheless the lightest of vans. The issue can also be addressed by appropriate loading.
