ARE HOOVER PLATINUM VACUUMS BETTER THAN DYSON VACUUMS?
You’re about to vacuum your living room and smoke starts pouring out the side of your vacuum cleaner. The next day you visit the vacuum cleaner shop and the technician tells you that your antiquated vacuum cleaner will cost you two hundred dollars to fix. At this point you decide to buy new, but which vacuum cleaner is the best buy for the money? The two most popular brands of vacuum cleaners on the market are Dyson and Hoover, but which is better. Three variables to consider when buying a Bodenstaubsauger vacuum cleaner are cost, capabilities, performance, and durability.
Hoover and Dyson vacuum cleaners
The main difference between Hoover and Dyson vacuum cleaners is the price. Dyson vacuums have always been more expensive than Hoover vacuums, claiming that you get more vacuum and more power for the money. The current Dyson price ranges from just under four hundred dollars to just under six hundred dollars, with seven different models to choose from.
On the other hand, Hoover has over thirty-five standing units ranging from sixty dollars to just under four hundred dollars for the top of the range Hoover Platinum series. When I think about what to pay for a vacuum cleaner, I always look at the warranty. The warranty is usually a good indication of how firmly the manufacturer believes in the vacuum cleaner they are selling. With Hoover’s new Platinum line, Hoover has increased its warranty to six years, giving the Platinum line an extra year over Dyson. In terms of warranty and price, Hoover beats Dyson by far.
ability of a vacuum cleaner
A vacuum cleaner’s performance should be matched to the tasks it must perform and the environment in which the vacuum cleaner is intended to be used. For people with multi-story homes, a lighter vacuum should be used to comfortably carry it from level to level. People who use a vacuum to clean curtains or baseboard areas should look for a vacuum that has a variety of vacuum tools, a longer wand length, and plenty of accessory tools. In Dyson’s case, all upright vacuums come with a detachable wand and tools designed for other cleaning tasks. In Hoover’s case, the Platinum Lightweight Baged Upright doesn’t have a detachable wand, but it does come with an extra small canister vacuum to complement the upright.
Although Hoover gives you an upright and a canister vacuum in the same box, I found that using two vacuums instead of one took up not only extra time, but additional storage space. Hoover recently unveiled its version of a cyclonic stand called the UH70015. This vacuum cleaner comes with a lightweight aluminum wand, an 8ft stretchable hose, a dusting brush and a large suction motor. Both manufacturers’ products do a great job of doing all the jobs a vacuum cleaner needs to do, but because of the ease of use, Dyson makes cleaning a pleasurable experience. Dyson vacuums seem a step ahead of Hoover in terms of maneuverability and sophistication in looks and engineering.
Vacuum world cyclone technology
In the vacuum world, cyclonic technology seems to be synonymous with increased performance, but how much better is the cyclonic vacuum compared to its predecessors? Having professionally reviewed over forty different vacuum cleaners and having worked in the wholesale cleaning industry for over 15 years, I see that the cyclonic vacuum has its advantages. A cyclonic vacuum seems to suck up more dirt from the baseboard areas and retains more dirt in the brush area on hard surface floors. On the other hand, the power of a cyclone vacuum can wreak havoc on delicate materials like cotton. Carpet edges also seem to be a problem as they are more easily picked up by a cyclone than traditional vacuums. When looking at performance, be sure to look at the areas you’re vacuuming and adjust performance based on the types of materials you’ll be cleaning.
Pay a high price for a vacuum cleaner
If you are thinking of paying a high price for a vacuum cleaner, durability is always a concern. If you compare a vacuum’s lifespan to the price you pay, the top-end Dyson would cost you one hundred and twenty dollars a year if the vacuum lasts five years or the life of its warranty. In Hoover’s case, if the Platinum Cyclonic lasted six years, or the life of its warranty, you’d be paying sixty-seven dollars a year. When looking at the durability of higher end vacuums I would base the life expectancy on the unit’s warranty. Most higher-priced vacuums cost more to repair , and in the event of a catastrophic failure, it’s better to discard the vacuum than have it repaired. For this reason, I would always base the life expectancy of a higher-quality vacuum cleaner on the warranty period. Aside from the vacuum breaking through owner neglect, the vacuum should cost very little to repair with the help of the warranty covering most of the bill.
Save some money and get a new vacuum cleaner
Overall, the Hoover Platinum Cyclonic seems like the better buy if you’re looking to save some cash and buy a new vacuum every five or six years. At almost $200 in savings, the Hoover unit has a better warranty and does the same job as Dyson’s most expensive vacuum. Dyson has some other features like ball technology which allows the user to maneuver the vacuum cleaner efficiently.
